Dollars or Euros?

Why would you expect payment in € of $ when the local currency is the £?

If I went to a little cafe in the US I would be shocked and surprised if they could actually point to a map and show where the UK was, let alone be able to accept GBP as payment. It's ridiculous to expect any small business to accept anything other than the national currency.

Because IN 2017 Euros WERE accepted everywhere except that restaurant. How many places in tourist areas don't take CC? According to travel sites:

No they definitely weren't. Most businesses in the UK only accept cash in GBP or credit cards. A lot of them don't accept cash these days to be honest.

Yes of course Bob, it has always been like that. Why would a Brit want to have Dollars?
Can you pay in your Jarabacoa colmado with a ten Dollar note?
This is not to ridiculize but to show the logic.
yes, you can, you can use American dollars almost everywhere in the DR. We often get clients paying in American dollars at the school.

The long and the short of the matter is the dollar is king. Look at the exchange rate and understand the shop keeper is ALWAYS ahead even if he needs to walk on down at the end of the day to the exchange and convert it. What's there to understand?

Do you really believe an owner of an English restaurant accepts dollars and the next day will be standing in line at western union to change a couple of hundreds? Sorry guys 😁

I wrote it without the embellishments that you used. For example insteadof the "line at WU" one could take those "couple of hundreds" and put it under his pillow and dream about the day HIS currency will be that strong in a upside down world. Or, he might give them to his children that are sitting on GO to the US.

So you are saying this owner should accept dollars and keep them out of the books?
And what do you mean by the exchange rate? Is that the standard to accept foreign currency in your business? In that case the Brit would prefer the Euro as it has a higher rate.
Back to the initial discussion. British restaurants never accepted other currencies than their £. If you own a business in these countries and you start to accept euros dollars, yen’s… how on earth would you manage this in your accounts?

You can walk into any establishment in the US and ask if they accept Puerto Rican money and 99 times out of a hundred they'll say no.

Assuming he is from a Euro country which we still don’t know. In fact we don’t know if he is from the EU.
Anyone who says " Holiday" instead of Vacation is from Europe . Could be Germany, or the UK, but definitely from Europe.

Bring the USD to the DR and change them to DOP at a Western Union or Caribe Express.
