La Gaviota

Very good Dominican food is served at La Gaviota ;)

Thanks Rocky I couldn't remember the name.

The only place I would eat Dominican food out of (other than my own kitchen) is at La Gaviota.
I'm prone to stomach problems from food that's even a little bit off, and La Gaviota is the only place I trust.(For Dominican food).
(See the telephone icon in black just below the number 2 on the map. That is exactly where La Gaviota is located.)

The place SKY mentioned is the best Dominican food i have had. They have a better selection than Suzannas across from the Europa. It is a bit out of the way but well worth it.

Or.....

You could just do what I used to do. Make a new "friend" and get her to cook for you. If she is from the campo, trust me, she'll know what to do. Some of my best meals in the DR where acquired in this manner.

There was an old soak named D----o
With angry words full of bravado
He lied & he cheated
When caught out he bleated
But his taxes are still 'non pagado'

Just in case anyone is in:laugh:  any doubt

Oh has he gone? In which case please delete

Where can I find places to eat where Dominicans eat in Sosua? I'm looking for cheap places to eat. I want to experience places other than Quixotes, Morai Mai, Oceanfront, and etc.

I thought it was only me

I walked up and down and the only thing I found was that English place

I wanted some good old fashioned black beans and rice

The Las Canas restaurant on La Mulata road has a dominican special prepared by chef Victor, formerly of the Waterfront. It is like "gourmet" dominican salsa with chicken, pork, beef or goat, (depending on the day) with rice and beans or moro and salad...90 pesos. Served in the poolside restaurant free of motor concho traffic, shoeshine boys or street beggars. Worth checking out! call ahead for the special of the day...809-318-7559

There's a good little outdoor Dominican cafeteria on Pedro Clisante, diagonally across the street from Four Roses/Dominos...close to Europa...meat, rice and salad for around 80-100 pesos. There's also an indoor place a door or two down from the Colmado across the street (near the Super Super).

Susanna's Criolla...great place!!

I like La Graviota too. There is also a place across the street on Pedro Clisante from Debbie's Pantry with tables outside. They are always full at lunch. They also are a good spot for takeout on the way to the beach. Entree, rice, beans, salad for 100 pesos.

that's Susana's...very good food for lunch!

i also tried la gaviota after Rocky's recommendation. the food was good but the service was a bit weird. i'm not sure the senorita got us even though we were very polite. she insisted on trying to talk to us in english , and her english appeared worse than my spanish and one of our group was a dominican.

odd but fun:bunny:
