Dominican Health Insurance

I'm looking to get health insurance for my Dominican GF.
Any recommendations for local insurance companies/representatives in POP?
Or is it mostly an expensive and useless rip off?

Health insurance in the DR is one of the biggest bargains to be had. At least for US citizens who have to pay sky high rates in the US. Not so for the Canadians and Brits who want it to cost the same as back home, nothing. There have been many recent threads on this subject. Do a search of "health insurance".

well, a search yields tons of info - alas almost nothing useful and/or many years old.
so I repeat my question:
does anyone have up to date info on recommended dominican health insurance companies/planes de seguro/insurance representatives-brokers in POP?

Hi Surferboy!

DEFINITELY everybody able to should have insurance! Take it from me I was using ARS Palic Salud, I think it was called...I'm going to get the details and send them along to you...I was hospitalized and drugged up and tested on for a few days and didn't pay a single cent! It's worth it if you have the money!

I'll PM you the details...this is just so you know there is at least one good company out there

Hey Gang! The insurance I had was ARS Palic Salud. Not sure of the monthly cost if you subscribe as an individual, but here are the details to call:

Good luck! Stronnnngly advise getting the insurance soon as you can!
