Santo Domingo.- The Senate of the Dominican Republic has launched the “Learning Sign Language” course to enhance inclusion and improve citizen services. Led by Senate President Ricardo de los Santos, the initiative is coordinated by the Human Resources Department and the Training and Recruitment Unit, with instruction from expert Iván Ventura and support from the Sign Language Academy.
The three-month program will equip Senate employees with essential communication skills to better serve people with hearing disabilities. Human Resources Director Sonya Uribe Mota emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Senate’s vision of equal opportunities and accessibility. Training Director Anell Fernández highlighted its role in strengthening staff capabilities and fostering a more inclusive institutional culture.
The course combines theoretical and practical training, ensuring participants can effectively communicate with the deaf community. With this effort, the Senate reaffirms its commitment to accessibility, equity, and high-quality public service
