Hi my name is Bill and my wife Yroquis is Dominican. She moved up here from Passaic, NJ [talk about a huge Dominican community!] a few years back and lately has been feeling a bit lonely. I was wondering if anyone has any contact info for groups of Dominicans in Portland, Maine or Portsmouth, New Hampshire areas? We know there's a pretty big community in Lawrence, Mass as well but don't have any URLs or contacts there.

There is a dominican community in Providence, Rhodes Island and also up north on the other side of the border in Montr?al, Canada.

North East England

Hi there. Not yet but there will be in 2 weeks. My husband flys to the UK on the 19th March.

We will be living in the North East, about 10 miles from Durham. Feel free to PM me, it would be great for him to get in touch with you.

For all who may be in Los Angeles County This thursday:

Dear Dominicans:

On behalf of the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in California,
Honorable Celeste Jimenez, it is with great pride that we let you know
that for the first time in history, a group of Diablos Cojuelos from the
Dominican Carnival will be dancing and entertaining the public in
Hollywood.

The Hollywood and Highland Complex has given us a space for this upcoming
Thursday, September 17, 2009, where the general public will be able to
enjoy a sample of the sounds, colors and magic that make our Dominican
Carnival the 3rd in the entire world.

For this grand occasion, we are inviting you to come and join us in the
party, to show the people of Hollywood that we Dominicans know how to have
fun and have much to offer, and that are our multicultural are beatifully
unique in the world.

We at the Consulate are extremely proud of the accomplishments that you as
Dominican Stars have achieved. You make our hearts swell with joy and
pride.

The event will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Complex's Courtyard. We hope
that you can join us, dance, sing and have fun.

Opportunities such as this one have not come by often, and we are very
grateful to the City of Hollywood and to the administration at the
Hollywood and Highland Complex for their support.

The Complex is located next to the Chinese Theater in Hollywood Boulevard.
