Does anyone know if the Dominoes in Pop are using the new Recipe they are offering in the US?

I don't know about Dominoes in POP, but I tried Dominoes Pizza in Santiago (I'm pretty certain that's the pizzeria in Sirena's food court), and it was a terrible pizza. I used to eat Dominoes in the US and it was Ok but not as good as Papa John's). I went hungry that afternoon; after two bites, dropped in the trash can.

Yes the La Siernas food court is correct and it did suck.

Papa Johns is good but not available here, however the Pizza Hut in Playa Dorado tastes the same as they make in the US

Hmm sounds like Domino's to me...

In the US, all the Domino's are shipped frozen par baked like a super market frozen pizza. I know someone who is a general manager at one.

Whenever I craved pizza in the DR, I would get a loaf of French or Italian bread, some fresh plum tomatoes and some fresh Basil and garlic and make bruschetta. Basil is very cheap in the DR and available year round.

Puree destemmed basil in a blender with a clove or of garlic and just enough olive oil to make a pesto and a pinch of salt It will keep for weeks if there is enough oil so that it doesn't dry out. Grill the bread in thick slices on both sides to golden brown with a little bit of oil(a panini press is best). Top with some pesto and slices of the plum tomatoed then finish with either freshly grated parmesan or slices of fresh mozzerela in water. Bake if desired until the cheese is melted. It lasts for over a day-- once you have the pesto on hand it is quite easy to make and you can use a toaster oven to melt the cheese. It looks something like this:

Cost: under 100 pesos to make a whole loaf of bread for about a dozen thick pieces. Makes a nice finger food.

I normally also cut them on the diagonal to make them easier to eat and to give a better presentation. Once you make this, you'll forget about Domino's. A traditional Pizza Margarita is simply fresh tomatoes, garlic, salt mozzarela, and fresh basil. I'd make this more in the states, but fresh basil is often $8- $16 a pound here.

I am sorry but the words Domino's, and Pizza Hut should never be used the same sentence with Pizza. Similar to not using Rap and Music together or Military and intelligence. Just my opinion

dominos is as gross as can be in POP, santiago and SD. nasty. pizza hut is also truly horrible and come to think of it, much worse than in europe. if you crave pizza there are many local places that make good or at least decent pizza. la tarappa and portofino close to the malecon (although truth be told i have not been in portofino since the tennant left to establish la tarappa), sole mio in costambar - they have great pizza.
even san jorge (on manolo tavarez justo) is better than american chains. and there is a new place, panydeli, in old silverio messon that sells pizza too. great masa, one of the best i had in here but sadly, the sauce is pure sopita :) but then it is 250 pesos for pizza grande so very affordable for dominicans.

Dominoes takes the prize as the most dried up, hard as a rock, expensive as hell pizza in the DR, it is like you're eating a 1 day old Pizza you forgot in the kitchen. Pizza Hut is good though, only a bit too heavy on the greasy side. Pizzarelli is the best you can find in the DR by far, and Papa Johns.

I actually think the Dominos in Colinas mall is pretty good. Better than in the states anyway. And actually its better than the other one on Ave 27, which I admit is garbage, and also costs more: 405 vs 640 (WTF?).

I tried Pizzarellis based on some posts in this forum but didnt think it was all that great. Just costs more.

Pizza Hut is pretty mediocre. Spongy and kinda funky tasting. I didn't care for it but I was dying for a salad bar. And nearly did after I ate it. Terrible.

Pizza House. I went to the one in San Francisco once cuz the pizza hut was closed due to some kid's birthday. This is without question the worst pizza I have ever had the misfortune of eating. Its cheap and they give you 2 for one, although it seemed to me that all they really give you is an extra dough, then divide the ingredients for one pizza between the two. It is thin, half-cooked and very greasy. It reminded me of my high school cafeteria, when I used to fold the slice in half and pour the grease off. Awful.
