My friends company has 24 casinos here in the DR.
MANY are located in, or near the tourist hotels.
Several are closed due to low occupancy rates, especially on the North Coast.
I TRUST his #'s!
NOT "Garcias" #'s!

So wait, these statistic about nearly all Dominican airports moving considerably more passages than last year each month are also BS? I swear sometimes I think the hate some of you feel for DR, is so big that you would get an orgasm if there was an earthquake tomorrow that would kill half of the Dominican population. You would come to this forum to post how stupid and ill-prepare Dominicans were for such catastrophic event. I seriously have never ever read a single positive, a single optimistic thought, a single good thing said about DR from some of you, you and others dream and look forward to DR's economy soon crashing down, half of what you post is about how the whole country will go down soon, the other half is complaining about DR and Dominicans. If that's what's on your mind every day, then your live'is probably very miserable!

Most likely posted from Miami!
Those numbers in NO WAY indicate the occupancy rates in the hotels here in the DR.
The raw numbers include Dominican citizens, returning, or visiting here as well as tourists.
I realize the purpose of your post was to insult anyone who has a different opinion than your's, but it proves "NADA" about the number of tourist coming into the DR.
"Nice Try" though!
What's the weather like where YOU LIVE today?
It's great here in "Paradise"!!!!
Come visit, YOU can become a "Statistic" too!
You may want to take an extra "Chill Pill" today!

I personally liked seeing the statistics. Let's face it - not a lot of Dominicans flying into Punta Cana, those numbers are probably mostly tourists and they speak for themselves.

I was surprised at the numbers at SDQ, where I am always a distinct minority on flights from JFK and EWR. Those flights are mostly Dominicans. I'm guessing that the March/April #'s have something to do with when Semana Santa falls.

Without a breakdown of nationalities, and weather "Tourism" is the motive for their flight, the rest is only speculation.
All I can say FOR SURE, is that when I stay at the North Coast "AI's" they are only half full.
Last trip was last month.
The quality of their services and food is going down as well.
Fewer tourists, less income, smaller budgets,= lower quality.
The "Vicious Circle" of the Dominican "Business Model"!

CC stop being a basher! If the deportees are counted the figures might be correct.

I would imagine that they are basing their figures on the number of people who buy tourist cards when entering the country and not necessarily room bookings. The Tourism Ministry needs to ramp up the eco-tourism side of the equation.

"Meanwhile, the Spanish-speaking country?s year-round hotel occupancy averaged 87.3 percent, ?one of the highest rates in recent years,? according to Garcia."
To me it sounds that Dominicans are booking more rooms

In the statits in numbers of pax are included every body, the numbers of the Central Bank are only for visitors, last year we received arround 9 millions pax in all Dominican airports, from those 4.5 Turist, rest Dominicans or Legal Residents. Punta Cana Airport receive arround the 50% of all visitors that come to Dominican Republic.

So do yourself a favor and take a trip down to PC and see for yourself as you obviously are not going to believe anything that you don't see firsthand. Without a basis for your posts, it looks like you are trying to discredit the thread without offering anything substantial to the contrary. We all know that the north coast is not a tourist paridise, but there is just too much data to show that PC is jumping with tourism to doubt that its true..

An 87. occupancy rate would be the ENVY of the world's hotel industry!
NEVER HAPPEN!
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
Id' LOVE to see the number of rooms in closed hotels.
My friend's Casino business relies heavily on the number of tourists in the hotels where they are located, or nearby.
INCLUDING " Punta Cana area hotels!!!!!!!!!
(They send buses to bring them to the casinos outside the "AI" encampments)
If he says "Business Is DOWN", It's DOWN!
He has the REAL NUMBERS, not the inflated Dept Of Tourism numbers!
His livelyhood depends on them!
Personally, I don't "Give A $hit"!
It's better for me the fewer tourists, and ESPECIALLY Drunken Dominicans:knockedou:knockedou:knockedou:knockedou:knockedou, and their "Demonios",in the Hotels when I visit!
No "Lines", less drunks, empty pool, MORE FOOD!
Not that I have to pay anyway!

Actually not posted from Miami, and the weather in Gurabo, Santiago is a little cloudy but great, thanks! Everyone else who knows my posting history, knows where I LIVE! Yeah if the numbers were down then those statistics would reflect tourism going down for you right? but since the numbers are up they don't correlate with tourism hahaha, these thousands of more people travelling to DR each month are doing so for the heck of it. And Yeah Dominicans returning home via the major tourists airports like Punta Cana are the reason for the higher numbers, hahahaha sure! Honestly, I could care less about the number of tourists in DR, I live in Santiago and most of our industry does not depend on tourism, therefore the businesses of my family members and friends are not affected tourists. I would care way more for statistic that would show how many Dominican yorks come to blow all their savings in Santiago, and thus help the local economy. What made me want to post in this thread, is your obvious hate for DR and anything Dominican, is kind of funny seeing you trying to discredit any thread that talks positively about DR or Dominicans, it must be sad to spend the last days of one's life in a message board hating on Dominicans and DR, or on any other country/ethnicity for the matter. I'm sure I'm no the only one who has noticed your passionate hate for Dominicans.
