DR is on list of countries that will receive University of Oxford Covid-19 vaccination

President Luis Abinader told media directors during a lunch at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, 26 August 2020 that the government has signed an agreement with the Clinton Foundation and the Carlos Slim Foundation to cover the cost of Covid-19 vaccinations. Once the coronavirus vaccine manufactured by Oxford University is on the market, the Dominican Republic will be one of the first five countries to purchase it.

Abinader shared the information during the media directors lunch, as reported in N Digital. Abinader would have told the media directors that 10 million vaccines would be enough to innoculate five million Dominicans. Two doses need to be given per person.

He said the price of the dose would be around US$4, far below the US$75 per vaccine price offered by the Moderna coronavirus vaccine that is backed by the United States government.

It is likely any mutation would need a separate vaccine. That is because people that have gotten CV19 already are not resistant to the mutated CV19.
CV19 is here, there and everywhere to stay, at least via mutations, for a long time.

Clinical trials for the University of Oxford's COVID-19 vaccine have been put on hold, drug maker AstraZeneca said Tuesday. The decision to pause the trials comes after a study participant in the U.K. reportedly developed a spinal cord injury.

They did announce today that it was the vaccine. Had a fun chat today with a college professor about why you would announce yesterday that they weren't sure about whether the case involved the placebo or not. I understand the need for the studies to be blind, but they should have waited until they were sure before scaring people.
