The Dominican justice sucks. The whole country is just a mess. I feel disgusted everytime I read things like that. I'm only 28 and I don't plan on ever retiring in DR. I advised everyone to do the same and stay away. I was born in DR but things have gone from bad to worse and it gets worse every day. There is no hope until we get a leader with balls. How can the contry prosper when there is no education? Kids taking classes right under a tree while our beloved president is taking a tour with a whole bunch of lambones around the world. all paid for by the dominican taxpayer. God have some mercy on the comon people. This 5 criminals will just go back to the streets and do the same thing. the family of the people that they killed should take matters into their own hands and shoot them all.

No offense but the US ain't exactly perfect. In fact we had more violence happen close to us in Orlando in 5 years than we have had happen here in Santiago.

Also, if you don't think there is a bunch of drugged up criminals running around after getting off scott free in the States because of technicalities I've got some swamp land to sell you.

Sure the police in the States are great and have a good response time, assuming you aren't dead before they get there.

Then again, you have to be careful about disciplining your kids in some States, a spanking that leaves a mark or letting your child miss too many school days could mean you give up your parental rights. I found this out first hand.

Also, it won't be long before we'll have guys dressed up as ladies with fake boobs teaching their distorted form of sexual education to our grade school children.

The DR is mostly what you make of it. If you hang out in the wrong places at the wrong time with the wrong people and otherwise don't use the head you were given bad things could happen. On the contrary, if you are smart and prudent there is no reason to believe you will have any more chance of being a victim of violence than any other big city in the world.

Is thiis drain cleaner the stuff they often throw in each others faces? I've seen the results (and unfortunately heard the screaming of a victim once) but never really known exactly what it is they so easily get a hold of and use.

How unfortunate that 7 dead, 2 injured, taxi drivers ALL hung out in the wrong places at the wrong times, with the wrong people as customers.

Do you really understand the things you post ????????

Agreed. Well said.

True, the kids are miscreants, but the taxi drivers are the real victims.

Heck, taxi drivers all over the world are constant victims. These taxi drivers were clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time, and their justice was not served. I saw these kids have to pay huge fines to the families of the victims, money they will never see.

But I won't condemn the entire DR because of a miscarriage of justice with these kids. That can happen most anywhere. Ask OJ.

Don I consider you a friend but your criticism of me is getting very consistent as of late. I have answered mosts of your posts and you still disagree, which is fine but leave the insinuations of being personally "affronted" out please. Also, if you don't like my posts put them on ignore.

There is a Dominican saying (refr?n) : "Por eso que matar no se acabe" ....{That's why killing does not end.} HB

el caribe reports that a cousin of one of the drivers responded to the cheering teenager: no te apures, desgraciada, que te estaremos esperando para matarte.

so yes, it will not end there...

Just don't become a taxi driver

Heck, taxi drivers all over the world are constant victims. These taxi drivers were clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time__

I see.
And that's why the youth gang killed seven of them. :tired:
These poor misguided barrio heroes must have had a special liking for wrong places at wrong times, carajo.
Not their fault, is it?

That can happen most anywhere
One of the most stupid phrases, which does not explain anything anyhow.
We are not discussing what can happen everywhere.

I am observing what happens where I live and it is most disturbing indeed.

WTF are you talking about?

The taxi drivers did nothing wrong. They were victims, each and every one...unless you have other evidence to the contrary. Their misfortune was picking up a fare that was going to cause them harm for no reason.

Those kids are murderous punks and the taxi drivers were their prey.

Yes, the taxi drivers WERE in the wrong place at the wrong time. Those kids are serial killers who attacked random victims.

How about some context, Don? My comments were specifically related to taxi drivers...the ones murdered by those punks...who ARE often victims of random crimes and robberies all over the world. Driving a taxi-like working in a 7-11-has always been a high-risk profession. Obviously, even in the DR.

I was not referring to general crime.

I live here, too, and I am disturbed about crime. Heck, as far as I'm concerned I am a recent victim of a crime: theft by confidence.

So my comments are within context and valid.

That's why many like me are begging for A Trujillo to rise again. I have no problem with turning back the clock if law and order are restored. For those that complain about Trujillo's excesses, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If crime does not turn around, history shall repeat itself.

So we should institutionalise the violence rather than seek to eradicate it?

Interesting thought...

The taxi driver families will have justice, that I have no doubt.
Let's hope we don't get any copy cats.

The DR has 1,000's of bottles of Plomerito sitting on shelves etc.
People will find a way to get get it, if they need it.
