So far 1.3 million cruiseships passengers have visited the DR and spent an estimated US$133.5 billion (estimated spending per tourist is US$100.) It's expected to close the year with the visit of 2 million cruiseships passengers.

Total Exports: US$8 billion (64.8% was exported through the ports.)
Total Imports: US$27.9 billion (89.9% was imported through the ports.)
It doesn't say, but most exports and imports that are done through the ports are mostly done at the Haina port, which is owned by the government (was built by Trujillo.) Without that port built with Dominican tax payers money, the private sector would not be able to export and make money selling abroad.

The government will be creating the ferry San Pedro de Macorís - Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
Will require an US$80 million investment in San Pedro de Macorís port.
It will create 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.
It will have capacity for 1,000 passengers, 350 vehicles and 300 containers.
