I could not help but notice this issue while I was in Santo Domingo. There is drive thru on Abraham Lincoln I think which is for drivers who need to get a drink.

You pull up into this place as if it were a McDonalds and they ahve all kids of drinks for you to order. You can have a Presidente or they will prepare anything you want like Cuba Libre or whatever.

Once they give you your drink, you pay and drive off. What in gods name is that all about?!?!?

Has anyone else seen this? It's a way of promoting drunk driving

Hahahahaha!

Just think of it as a Dominican tranquilizer stand to brace you for having to drive back into that nightmare traffic! Seriously, they all drive like they're drunk anyway, so what difference would it make?

I didn't know that drinking while driving violated any mores in the DR, not to mention laws. You're not in Kansas anymore.

Hola cmedina07

One of the many things I love about this place!!!!!

Pull into a gas station, and order an ice cold Presidente, with your gas, this way you fill your car and your-self up, at the same time!!

Watch the cops directing traffic, YES!!! You will see them drinking Presidente, once in awhile!!!!

Stop at the car wash, get a brew & BJ, together!!!!!

Drinking and driving, is mandatory here!!!!!
No Bull-Shit DWI laws, to deal with!!!!! YIPEEE!!!!!

Seriously, if it's not beer, it's rum. And I could care less.

When I was a kid, my Dad could sit and have a beer, on his own front steps. After work, he could stop down at the local pub, and have a few with the boy'z.
A parade on main street??? Hell, it was mandatory, everybody grab the lawn chairs, and a cooler of beer for all the dads. Go to the beach, have a barbecue and dad always had some cold ones in the cooler!!!

AHHH, times gone past!!!!!

Now back in NY, it is illegal, to do every single one of those things mentioned above!!!!!

Why do people get so ANAL RETENTIVE!!!!!!
There takeing all the Goddam fun out of life!

Thanks
Tim H.

Timex,

I was watching a comedian a couple of days ago and he mention that now you have to go to Mars to have a cigarette. New York laws are crazy. I am not a smoker ,but those that do are not happy.

The drive thru place in Santo Domingo is making a fortune.

This place has been booming since atleast 1993. I remember it since the days I was in college and came to visit the folks. There is another more decorative in Lincol avenue now and in churchill there is a Dume that I would quite call it drive thru but almost.

I agree with Xanadu, people here do not need alcohol to drive drunk anyway.

In the Bahamas I can still drive in an open jeep with a beer in my hand and overtake a cop. But it is changing now: I can't overtake him...

One time I got pulled over and I was curious as to what he was gonna say. He asked me what band that was playin on my stereo, it was 'wholelotta love' by Led Zepellin. LOL

I wrote the band/song on a piece of paper, took a swig of my Kalik, and drove off.

McDonalds in Santiago offers Presidente with its happy meals.....

.......at the drive through window. Apparently, MickyD's is working on the development of a new family "drinking and driving" slogan...........

that explains why McDonalds is still in business while the other fast food joints are closing down.

Alcohol Just Adds a Whole New Dimension to a 'HAPPY' Meal!

McDonald's isn't alone though. Burger King has Presidentes on the menu, in Puerto Plata and Santiago, just like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Pollos Victorina. Nothing new there.

So drunken people...

Is it safe to walk with everyone drunk driving?? I'm just wondering how me and my burro will get along with so many beer bottles being tossed at us along the roadside :) Pam

One to go !

I agree it is very convinient to have one drive thru, it has been there for years, outside La Ceniza.
Plus the more alcohol they sell to these anoying, juniors in their jeepetas, more casualties, more space at the bar parking lots.
Think about it......

Don't Worry ... Be Happy!

It just cleans out the gene pool. As long as they don't have any kids already by the time they knock themselves out of the gene pool in a stupid alcohol related traffic incident, who cares? At least they haven't bred, and there won't be any idiot children running around to inflict a repeat performance on the rest of us survivors.

Problem solved. Thank you Charles Darwin.

But you're just ignorant of these things and you need to be quiet. I spent the day driving around Santiago, with Alba ready to kill me for screaming at the idiots walking, driving, honking, drinking, in the street. I was ready several times to jump out of the car and punch some of these idiots in the nose. Seriously.

They don't need alcohol to drive like they're drunk! They do that naturally! One day, you'll see! They have cowcrap in their brains when they get behind a wheel, or see a car in the street. I had one guy pass up three empty parking spaces to jump into the one foot gap behind my car and the car behind me as I backed up in the parking space the second I shifted into reverse. What goes on in these idiots heads?! Beats me! But the instant the reverse lights clicked on he moved in there like he was shot out of a cannon.

Don't worry about drunk driving. Worry about Dominican driving, Pam, As your main man CC says, "Guns don't kill people, Dominican drivers do."
