Last update (in case anyone is interested): So I went and took the driving test yesterday. As Frank 12 said, a quick run around the baseball stadium with no parking test. To my surprise I had to drive a little Kia rather than my own car. I made sure to very obviously and very frequently look in the mirror and indicate for every junction and lane change. I passed the test and must say it was easy - no reason to worry at all. I think the first Theory test is more difficult. And although the car that was provided was automatic (no manual car available), I think the licence allows me to drive manual cars too, as the licence card says "Restricciones: Ninguna".
The best part of the day was getting stopped by the police on the way home and being able to show my shiny new licence, not having to pretend I have only been here a few weeks as I have done before.
