A total of 484 packages, presumed to contain cocaine, were intercepted during a large-scale operation off the eastern coast of La Altagracia province.

Following intelligence reports, anti-narcotics agents and military personnel launched a comprehensive surveillance operation by air, sea, and land to apprehend the occupants of a go-fast boat attempting to smuggle a substantial amount of drugs into Dominican territory.

Today's bust.

"Dominican security agencies have confiscated a total of 111,074 kilograms (111 tons) of drugs. With international cooperation, drug seizures have exceeded 155 tons of cocaine, marijuana, crack, ecstasy, and other substances"

It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous!

Where is this all this Cocaine going ? Maybe I am getting old or naive, but I dont hear of anyone doing Cocaine any more .
Is a younger generation starting this up again ?
That was huge of course in late 70's 80's 90's in the US
And I know in the DR its still a popular Drug which can be found on any street corner. Cuz its Cheap there ,
But is the DR not a Stop off Point ? with most drugs going onward..
I just dont get it .

That would appear to be the case as the other possibilities make little sense. It isn't like the locals are using 100 tons of the stuff.

I am finding it hard to believe you aren't aware the DR is a key stop on the cartel train lines! At least for Colombia to points Miami and Europe.

I am quite aware of that , and that is why I asked where is the next destination for this kind of Volume
, cuz I dont see the usage here in the USA .
So where is it going ?.. that was the entire point of my question.

So maybe its going to Europe . ?

When Meth came on the Scene, Crack and Crack Cocaine was pretty much phased out , and that was several decades ago.
Cocaine, I dont ever hear anyone even talking about it in the states .
Like Cigarette Smoking . Sure people still do it , but its probably like 5 % of what it used to be .

I can't imagine cocaine running out of demand. I think it's no longer a "taboo" drug but certainly still in the top 3. I think it's a huge problem in the big exec world. Folks just manage it better after all these years. No one is really singling folks out for it anymore IMO. As it passes through DR, I'm sure there are deals where enough can stay in country for distribution to the folks

Where is is going? Rich people all over the world. I met a doctor from Milan who did not know many doctors who were NOT on coke. Secondly to the young people in the clubs who want to stay up all night and not be bloated after buying $30 drinks, and third, even the poorest barrios of Samana have guys who as soon as they get $1000 pesos, they are up for two nights partying.

I will stick with a smooth cabernet and a side of sildenafil.
