Does anyone know of a Dominican Spanish equivalent for the US slang term 'dude' as in "yo, dude"? Is there something better than just 'hombre' or 'chico'?
Good Lord gal, are you PMSing or something? The title was just a takeoff on the movie Dude, Where's My Car? (2000). I wanted something to Dominicanize it and for some reason mondongo came to mind. Why would you EVEN consider calling ANYONE 'dude'??? That sounds rude to me...and if you wanted to use it to ask a waiter about your food, as the title of this thread implies, then it's DEFINETELY RUDE...
Hermano sounds best...if you must call someone like that...you can also just say...
"Disculpe, tarda mucho mi comida?"...(Excuse me, will it take much longer for my food to be ready?)...
I absolutely HATE it when SOME people go to someone's 'house' and dare to INSULT the owner...
Get some manners!!!!
Victor...no, I'm not pmsing...It just seems like a very offensive name to call someone...I don't care if it's widely used...pants hanging down your butt are widely used here also, and I DO NOT like that either...
Jenny...I don't mind the titles in DR, I just plain HATE the DUDE one...to ME it sound VERY offensive...I would NEVER call ANYONE, here, there or anywhere that...
Bob, thanks for the explanation...I still don't like it...![]()
