It's a Tsunami WATCH not a warning right now.

Only when it evolves into an actual Tsunami do they issue a warning.

Washmachine boogie in Puerto Plata.

Well, it's my 2nd time ever to FEEL a quake... the first being about what, two years ago in the night?
But this one was for real. I jumped right up, opened all doors and went out and found myself standing in the rain wondering how I thought of taking the laptop computer out with me! :D

Really, a feeling though to get used to.

Nothing broken, no glass shattered, nothing... still, ceiling lamps were moving quite noticeably and my neighbor's rocking chair acted like it had a ghost sitting on it and my heart rate still needs some settling. :cheeky:

Watching the news out of Haiti on both CNN Espanol and International. Doesn't look good.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti ? A strong earthquake has hit the impoverished country of Haiti, where a hospital has collapsed and people are screaming for help.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.3. It occurred Tuesday afternoon and was centered about 14 miles (22 kilometers) west of the Caribbean nation's capital, Port-au-Prince.

An Associated Press videographer saw the collapsed hospital in Petionville.

No further details are immediately available.

Here in Santo Domingo it was felt as a big sway. Many people have reported the same impression that I had. I wondered if I was dizzy (when the first one of 5.9 happened), and then definitely an earthquake when the second one of 7.0 was felt.
No damages are being reported for Santo Domingo or the interior. It was a strange feeling, because it was felt as horizontal, moving softly. In Santo Domingo, people came down from high rises and congregated on first floors.

Reports are of another earthquake in Haiti now, the third this early evening. Of 5.5. First was reported as 5.9, second 7 and now 5.5.

7.0 According to USGS...But imagine a 7 is 10 times a 6 and the 6 we had on Sept 22 a few years ago collapsed several buildings in POP and damaged a lot around the country.

CNN says 3 story hospital collapsed. Haitian population lives along coast.

A guy named Chad Myers is just now talking on CNN and said "it was disturbing to see clouds of cement dust in Port au Prince."

Apparently there is widespread destruction in PAP.

It is a 7.0 six miles deep which CNN said is equivalant to 8.0 50 miles deep and there was just a 5.9 after shock just now. An American government official reports the sky in Port Au Prince is grey with dust. It is a very sad event.
