From Friday, 22 March to Sunday, 31 March 2024 school children are off for their Easter Week holidays. Most private offices, outside the entertainment and tourism industries, will close their operations at noon on Thursday.
This 2024, the Abinader government announced that non-essential services would close on Wednesday, 27 March at noon, a day earlier than in the past. In the Dominican Republic, Good Friday is a national holiday. It is up to individual businesses to decide if they will give their employees more days off during Easter Week. The Good Friday holiday this year falls on 29 March 2024.
Easter Week is the peak of domestic vacation time. Expect droves of people to hit the vacation destinations all around the country.
This is also a time when many choose to remain in the main cities, to enjoy the calm and to get things done that traffic jams never allow.
