Education gets offers on over 750,000 laptops, tablets and notebooks

The Ministry of Education announced late last week that it had received offers for some 752,000 pieces of computer equipment, including laptops, tablets and notebooks within the framework of a public tender MINERD-MAE-PEUR-2020-002 for the sum of RD$12 billion. There is another tender still on-going for the acquisition of another 188,000 electronic devices (2020-0004) for RD$3 billion.

As reported, the two tenders were carried out under a permit for “urgent tenders’ and the offers are scrutinized by the Ethics Agency head, former Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch, together with representatives of churches, civilian entities and educational associations. The Ministry is following a United Nations model that uses worldwide providers and local support will be channeled through local small businesses.
