Colonial / el Conde at NIGHTTIME …. Can any of you fine people tell me what it’s the CONDE / ZONA COLONIAL at night ? Nightlife , scenery , ambient , people , anything about the nightlife of Zona colonial… per example I’ve being told by my German friend that it’s bar after bar and lounges ; is that a fair assessment ? Also how is the safety in the area

Feel free to reply with any info people should know about zona colonial nightlife ,

Thanks

I have stayed at the ZC a couple of times and found the bars on Isabel a bit more lively than El Conde. I didn't go inside so I can't comment on that, but from the outside, I would say start at El Conde and walk north on Isabel. I'm sure there are others with better info than mine.

Define "nighttime"

Early evening after dark it's a nice place to stroll. Later at night (say 10-11 and on) it's a different crowd. Keep in mind most of the surrounding areas have a very vibrant gay vibe to them.

I've never been to any clubs or bars in the Zona Colonial but if I may offer a little advice...
if you are out after 10pm do not walk or travel north of Calle Juan Perez as it leads into one the biggest crime infested areas of the city. Have fun and stay safe.

Yes there are a lot of bars and clubs in the ZC. When I was younger (I'm54 now) we spend a lot of time inthe area, my favorite in those times was bachata rosa at calle La Atarazana. Today all the buisness are for younger people, the only one I know for older folks is El Sarten on calle Hostos near conde,it's really a small location and they have live music and karaoke. Allso the Merngue Club on the same street is worth a visit.
When we go now to ZC we make our colmado hopping, there are many of them in nice and safe areas, most visited by locals and you also can dance in most of them.

I had a rather nice old home in Zona Colonial for many years very close to the area containing the bars and discos . What surprised me is how late it was before the patrons turned up. Almost no one arrived before midnight .Going back some years they could party on until dawn and then the new laws came in and they closed at 2 or 3 am. There are discos and clubs on Calle Mercedes on the other side of Iglesia de las Mercedes and then others on Calle Billini and between Billini and Conde. I do not know where any gay disco is but I suppose that they are more discreet. The great problem is the lack of parking for patrons especially now that the public car park in Jose Reyes has closed down. I think that the competing area of Ave Venezuela in SD Este is still going strong.
