I'm in Santo Domingo with Claro TV...according to the guide, it should be on ABC - and in fact the first half-hour or so of pre-game hype was aired. But ever since about 2 p.m. it's been displaying a default screen and playing some mellow salsa.

On top of that, all the games that were supposed to be on ESPN (according to their website) were not shown. What a joke.

I'm starting to wonder if everything's blacked out and you have to pay for some special channel to see any of it...anybody know if that's the case? I'd like to get some impartial advice on what's up before I spend 3 hours on the phone with Claro. Thanks!

The Univision coverage is much more fun to listen to. They sound like they are about to nod off on ABC...

Fortunately many in the USA and billions of people around the world don't hold that opinion :)

In USA, around 16-18 million people play football (soccer) on a regular basis, which I think you will find is more than American football.

Come on England!!!

Almost all of them under 12. American parents like to have their kids play soccer because it's good exercise and they perceive it as relatively safe. Then the kids get older, peer pressure kicks in and all the best athletes switch to football and basketball.

That's why they play the games.......nothing wrong with a little luck.....wouldn't want to be the goalie from England though.........That can't happen at this level.......but overall not bad......we shall see how this all pans out.............

1-1 at the moment

And that is the final score. Hope England has good security to protect their keeper Greene from angry hooligans. That was a ridiculously soft goal he gave up.

USA has to be happy with this result.

That wasn't much fun to watch as an Englishmen.

Good result for the USA, more was expected of England.
