It never struck me that he aiming directly at Fr Cdns...... maybe a bit of paranoia on your part
It may be a question of perspective but...
I also wondered about the post that quoted only the part about Fr. Canadians when referring to sickos.
Not only RD Knight's post but the reactions to same.
ie..likes/responses.
It wouldn't be the first time here that Quebecers are referred to in a less than flattering light.
Maybe not paranoid but certainly sensitive.

As if there aren't enough Dominican men abusing children already. Sounds like he thought he'd found a nice quiet place to abuse young children. He thought wrong. An Italian was arrested in PP last year for abusing young girls and claimed he wasn't doing anything wrong because he had the mother's consent. What's with these foreign scumbags up in Puerto Plata. A few of those bars on the eastside of the beach road strip cater to this crowd. They need to step up and do a much better job of policing their own.
The sickest crime there is and a slap on the hand is why it continues worldwide. There is no cure for these monsters.

I think you got things ASSBACKWARD , It is usually leftists and Woke people that have little tolerance for opposing views. Perhaps the Fact that most of the foreigners arrested for child porn activities in the DR have been German or French Canadian (I believe there have been several Italians, and Americans as well) would be the reason for the comments.
AGREED. And NEVER MIND the disproportionate number of abusers who belong to the Alphabet Mafia as we certainly aren't allowed to mention THAT any more. It's a sick world folks.

It's this conversation that is derailing the thread...... totally off on a tangent now
Cleaned up, WW.

BTW, read the article about this guy in today's news. See if you see anything that reminds you of this thread.

From the article: "In the past, previous cases of Germans involved in similar activities have been extradited to Germany."

Extradition and not jail time in D.R.?

Still Alphabet Mafia was fine. Although not quite sure what it means I would think off topic.

Apart from that maybe we should just applaud the Dominican Police doing their job in this case.

It’s actually an argument for enforcing a requirement of having residency to live here as it includes the police background check.

D*O*U*B*L*E* B*I*N*G*O* on this statement.

The Island has lots of people who for one reason or another have quickly departed their home country.

As was put to me many years ago, it is not necessarily the Dominicans you need to worry about.....................and the old axiom, but true, the DR is a sunny place for many shady people.

I just wish the government had a way of implementing it even if they do not enforce residency, i.e. overstay after 90-120 days and then you are required to complete a background check or deportation ensues...........or when paying the overstay fee after 90-120 days and if you return the background check becomes mandatory to re-enter.

Last time I checked having legal residency is already a requirement to live here. Someone can easily pass a background check and abuse children. A lot of these guys do not have a lengthy rapsheet.

They would be much better off if they followed the model Thailand has been using for the last 20 years. They've hired a few western/ english speaking foreign police officers working in areas of the country with a large number of tourist and foreign residents. They work directly with the Thai police. These officers are well-known and respected by the local expat communities. When the scumbags (be them French Canadian, German, Danish, American, ect) start messing with the kids they are quickly identified, investigated and if need be prosecuted.
Is the system perfect? Probably not but it does have a positive impact on the local communities when it comes to stopping these types of crimes.

Thanks for double bingo on my post. Thats a good idea. It should raise red flags anybody wanting to effectively live here but is avoiding the residency papers with background check. At some point they should get curious.

So an additional question and relevant to your point is, whether the lengthy list of foreign abusers were/are here as residents or just came on a tourist card and never left.

If the former, then perhaps the so-called background checks need to be further strengthened in some way.

Most modern countries have quite a strict policy when it comes to child abusers.
When/if they get out of prison, they are followed, have regular check ups, and more often than not have their passports confiscated.
They can hardly say they are off to Thailand or the DR for a couple of months without raising red flags.

So any background check would reveal nothing, as the ones who are registered sex offenders could not get here in the first place.

Instead, I would propose that the DR ponders on why foreigners would think they can get away with these horrifying acts here in the DR.

In no particular order,

Because it is much more accepted here than back home. Any idea on the ages of the non-existent dads that bang up girls in their teens here ?

Because they can pay their way out.
I have a feeling the couple of news articles are just the tip of the iceberg.
And a theory that germans are often involved, because of their " strict/rightous nature ". All the others just pay off the PN and/or the fiscal and the whole problem just goes away.

Because poverty is wide spread, and a couple of $ or € go a very long way......

There are literally dozens and dozens of tourist destinations where vacationing-to-abuse-kids is NOT a thing.
The DR still has a bad rep of cheap and ready women, even though the government seems to be working on changing that image over the past few years.
But for now DR still equals cheap nasty holidays and prostitutes for a lot of tourists.

DR
There was this youtuber Miko Worldwide he was hanging around Sosua "running a charity", going to poor barrios and giving out food to the kids. Later he was arrested in Colombia for raping a 10 year old boy.
