Is it possible to adopt a child related to you?
My wife is Dominican and we live in Canada and we are wondering if it would be possible fo us to adopt a specific child related to her.

This is a major source of bureaucratic delays, and the process takes, literally, years. You need to know people, like judges and lawyers. Adoption in the DR is a long, tedious process. I am sorry for you.

You might be better off seeking visitor's visa to Canada and then seeking some sort of recourse in Canada, like student visas or whatever.
