La estancia has a very good layout Dye juniour, but at present there is absolutely nothing there and I can not see how they could reopen . two months ago ,there were no golf carts no caddies and the course was like grazing land for cattle . The problem is the dreadful italian family that sold a large interest in the project to Venezuelans and the Venezuelans have to offered to buy the remaing interest from the italians who will not sell so the Venezuelans will not our in more money .

People keep referring to the caddies as useless. If they at least act as fore caddies and tell me where my drive went, they are worth their weight in oro to me. I'm not expecting anyone to read the green for my 30 foot third putt. How helpful are they? I expect a talented one at Punta Espada and hope to finish three holes before he starts rolling eyes at my approach game.

You will be just fine at P. Espada with the caddies as they along with the ones at Casa De Campo are very professional. The course is tough but fair if you play from the forward tees. I would think the caddie will help you in that dept. So just enjoy it, especially if it's your first time playing there.

Can we assume by your screen name that you are a member of the Black Rum Golf Association? If so, you have probably played some of the best courses.

As a Bermudian that certainly enjoys a few Dark N Stormys, I can't say I ever considered applying for membership with the BR Golf Assoc. As far as playing some of the best courses world wide, well I would be the last one to complain about my list.

In most tournaments here , they are strictly prohibited as acting as fore caddies ..so many have been caught improving the lies of the paying players . I always say to the caddy...give advice only when asked .

Unfortunately, these outings usually have us hitting from the back tees. Sometimes this affords me the undesirable opportunity to hit from the back and front tees on the same hole. "His multiple drives seem to be wearing down and confusing the competition."

Another great deal is the course at Barcelo - great layout with lots of variety and only $40 ($50 if you want lunch and salad bar)....tom
