Lots of good info here. Remember ALL rain water is dirty, it has to condense on something to become rain. Dust, etc.
Only suggestion I have is to install a final filtre at the tap to remove the clorine smell/taste. GE makes a nice one fairly cheap. Mine lasts about 6 months. It will reduce flow rate however.

You need to mingle with the common folk a bit more ;)

Everyone knows that fried salami once a day keeps the rashes at bay.......

And if you forgot to eat your daily ration of induveca, we have the ultimate weapon against rashes: vicks vapor rub !!!!

On a more serious note, I am content just to have constant running water.
We just had 9 days without water supply, and it's sad to see how people have to make-do.

It took some time, and I lost all my hair ( just kidding ), and fed 4 " plumbers" to the dogs ( just half kidding ) to get my water " circuit" how I want it.

-Mains to tinaco(s).
-Mains to cistern when tinacos full.
-Cistern to tinaco and house circuit, when needed ( and w/o having to go outside to prime pump).
-Ladrona ( don't pretend you don't know what that means ;) ) to come on line when the mains are flowing for 4 hours every 2 days.
-rain water to storage for garden/conuco.

It's not science/engineering here in the DR campo to keep the water flowing , it is an art ! ;)

Indeed.. Convincing Dominicans is an artform.. Arroyo de leche is the campo of my wife's family. A few years back while visiting, I stumbled on a spring with cold pressurized water coming out of a rock formation that the residents used for drinking water. The water tested out excellent, so with some family help along with my dollars, we opened up an area to create a large pool at the spring. At the bottom of the pool we installed some 3" PVC and ran it downhill reducing to 2" and finally 1" just before the first home. There is almost 45 psi at the stand pipe where everyone can now get water.

Although it was no big deal to the people living there and a few people still travel up the hill to get water ( the plastic pipe makes the water bad) . There were a few burros that were happy because they did not to have to trek water anymore. "You can lead a burro to water, but you can't make them drink"..

What form (pellets, tablets) is the cloro sold in?
Also, what quantities are recommended?
Thanks, in advance, from a guy who has been using (not drinking) Cooraplata water off and on for over 30 years.
No, my teeth have, not yet, fallen out!

When I last had a cistern, I used tablets in a floater with an adjustable output. Something like this:

You can also use a cistern sanitizer. This is the most popular one on Amazon:

When purchasing chlorine tablets for your cisterns, buy and use "Calcium Chloride Tablets" Not a good idea to use swimming pool chlorine tablets or shock in your cistern or any potable water supply. Your skin and hair will thank you for it. Any doubters can easily google what the differences are between the two for themselves. The adjustable floaters are fine and work good. So is using a cheap swimming pool chlorine test kit to keep tabs on how much chlorine is in your water. Between 0.5-1.5 PPM or MGL (same thing) is perfect.
