How? They haven't even applied for DOT authority. Isn't this the same carrier that was getting DC-9s, and now Saabs???

Latinaviation.....Fina will operate separately from Viva/Auxer, but they have some sort of revenue sharing agreement. Fina always had the SAAB jets. The DC-9's were contributed by Viva/Auxer when a relationship was formed between the 2 companies.

I hope they announce POP as a destination., I see only SDQ, STI, LRM and PUJ. Everybody seems to leave POP out as a destination.

Hold on something does not add up ...

2 aircraft from 2 airports with 2 flights to the DR, but then they go on to say that they will service three destinations and they list 4 ......

Fina Air will operate two SAAB 340 aircraft, we will be offering two daily flights to The Dominican Republic.

The flights will be originating from the Luis Mu?oz Marin Int'l airport and from Eugenio Maria De Hostos Airport in Mayaguez.

We are projecting commencing service during the month of July, 2003.

Our expectations are to service, Punta Cana, Santiago, La Romana, and Las Americas, three destinations in the Dominican Republic.

juan, they'll have 2 DC-9's too

In addition to the 2 saab 340's it has been previously reported that they will operate 2 DC-9's in an arrangement with Viva..

CITY, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2003--THE AUXER GROUP, INC. (OTCBB: AXGI) announced today it has entered into a passenger service connector agreement with Fina Air of Puerto Rico and pursuant to this agreement has signed a Letter of Intent and Memorandum of Understanding for the purchase of Two (2) former Boeing-Douglas DC-9-32 passenger aircraft (Mfg. Serial Numbers 47172 registry N926L and 47174 registry N929L) from NEA HOLDINGS, INC. of Delaware.
Both of these DC-9-32 aircraft were formerly operated by Trans World Airlines ("TWA") and are configured with 100 seats (16 First Class and 84 Economy Class). Negotiations are underway with Evergreen Air Center, Inc. of Marana, Arizona to perform the heavy maintenance work packages, including avionics upgrades with the latest in GPS navigation technology including fresh customized paint, installation of over water equipment and possible interior reconfiguration upon delivery. The maintenance work package, repainting and other updates will take approximately 45 to 60 days.

Robert J. Scott, President and CEO of Auxer, stated, "Fina Air gives us a working relationship that will provide a low cost vehicle to transport Caribbean passengers to and from our Viva Airlines subsidiary's Dominican Republic hubs. Fina will complement Viva as well as providing significant cost savings. The DC-9-32's will be used in the Fina operation and supported by a cost sharing or lease agreement".

Something doesn't add up... how do they already have the right to fly to ther DR? A search on dms.dot.gov showed no results under "Fina Air." Moreover, you say they always had the Saab 340s? Saab Marketing, in their magazine, doesn't list them as an operator. Did they acquire these under another name?

I could be totally wrong.. maybe I'm missing something?

They absolutely need DOT authority. PR authority means nothing in real terms without the DOT authority. They also need FAA authority to operate, even within PR.

You can t be serious to ask that question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States! Which means that it falls under DOT/FAA authority.

And guess what, you do not need a passport to go to Puerto Rico.

They still need DOT authority, Art. That can take over a year to obtain; the filings alone are generall in excess of 100+ pages not inclusive of the Family Assistance Act filings.

No need to check for them, they're not there. Visit dms.dot.gov. You can perform an advanced search on any number of criteria, including searching for Fina. Fina Air, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic. They haven't applied.
