Finjus warns that it is illegal for government officers to sell to the state

The executive vice-president of the Foundation for Institutionalism and Justice (Finjus) Servio Tulio Castaños has again gone on record with the legal think tank organization’s opinion on who can sell to the state.

Recently the case has been back in the news after TV journalist Nuria Piera presented on TV how the scheme of selling to the state helps explain how 33-year old newly named Youth Minister Kinsberly (Kimberly) Taveras has accumulated more than RD$77 million in wealth. Before her appointment to the Abinader government, Taveras served as mayor of the small towns of La Guayiga and Pedro Brand.

The spokesperson for Finjus says no Dominican government officer is allowed by Procurement Law 340-06 (Article 14) to be a supplier to the state or to bid for a contract with the government.
