Maybe PC is like POP, a few hundred more than SDQ. I find that is the norm not the exception.

Why not fly SDQ and get a ride? Could save you couple of hundred each.

~WW

We are trying that route as well, many of our guests have not been to the RD and do not speak spanish, so they are apprehensive about flying to SDQ and getting a ride.

As always thanks for the unbias input..

flying into sdq might save a few bucks, and might be worthwhile if you have a lot of people flying together and can get some kind of CHEAP transport (but that's unlikely), BUT... the idea was to fly non stop to keep travel time low. That will add min. 3 hours to the trip... at that point might as well do a lay-over flight and fly into PUJ at a lower rate.

Captnglenn...agreed with the ever precense of preserving time....quicker is always better for us USA''ers...
~ironically we are finding that leaving from JFK is finding to be cheaper at present, "this NOT being the norm....however still more expensive then my flights booked from Newark booked in Nov...we are still trying to be adventagoius in assistance to finding the cheapest fares for the booking guests to the wedding....

Summer flights are notoriously high from EWR and JFK, so many Dominicans go there after school closes, the flights are packed going in July and coming in August.

When I worked in the NY textile industry I had a mandatory 2 week vacation for the first 2 weeks in July [whole industry closes down - so did the whole NY jewelry industry where my dad worked for 40 years], and I booked flights almost a year in advance to get a decent price.

You might want to call some of the charter/tour companies that service the NY area, like Apple Tours, Liberty, etc. for example, and ask if they will sell Air Only to Punta Cana. There are a few tour operators, and they all have blocks of seats on flights that they have to fill. You'd have to fly on their tour dates, usually weekends, but it might be worth a shot.

Its way more than worth a shot..... why didn't we think of this.??

Book the whole thing for your guests with an agent, be it a tour operator, Liberty, Continental, Delta.

They kill it on the price when you air/hotel Package

You get bulk airfare and a great room rate. Negotiate with them for a group rate.
Problem should be solved.....Amazing Grace does it again!!!

PHL to POP via AA leaving in April 2012 for 12 days booked for $502 total. 1 stop in MIA but 5 hour layover on the return flight.

That's a long way from my 1st flight in June 2005 when I paid $280 total for the same flight with the exception being the layover was in San Juan, PR and the layover was much shorter.

Is it possible to book from DR. I am looking for ticket to Toronto. When I check these flights like Airtransat, Sunwing, Westjet etc - I do not get the option to book online. Even Aircanada is not available to book online for others except US and Canadian Citizens. Only options available are Delta or AA but getting ridiculous prices. Is there any idea to look for cheaper tickets. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Airtransat.ca has some $199 rt fares to Punta Cana.

expedia accepts international credit cards. Air Canada should be possible through them. I am not sure about the others but if you WU the fee to them they will book you for sure.

I booked in Delta - 675 USD in all. STI - YYZ RT. No other choice other than AA but I hate AA.

First time in Delta. Anyone has experience with Delta? Do they charge 25 USD for the first checked baggage?

Some people visiting us will tell that they got for 200 and sometimes less than that for RT. i had never came across those fares.

Your an AA guy, Kyle? Im sorry to hear that lol. AA has the worst planes. Ive taken AA,Jetblue and more recently Delta to DR and AA bombed on all fronts. I was surprised by how nice the Delta flight was, TV's in the headrest, games, etc plus 1st class(which Jetblue doesnt have) and servings of food twice, all for $333(for coach seats), now if only Richard Branson would route some of those Virgin planes to DR......:p
