In today's Listín Diario are two articles on Freddy Beras Goico. He was an icon in Dominican television, passed away a few years ago. I think he and Pedro Santana were the greatest people that came out of El Seibo. lol

This is the trailer of the Dominican movie about him coming out in Nov 23 in movie theaters in the DR. It was produced by his son Giancarlos Beras-Goico.

Today, avenida Hípica has been renamed avenida Freddy Beras Goico, Santo Domingo Este. This is the road to the racetrack from the Las Américas Highway. This is also one of the roads thst makes the intersection at the entrance of the San Isidro Air Base of the Dominican Air Force. In recent years parts of this avenue has been growing a lot, especially with new apartment buildings from Bisonó.

The big question is if it will be somewhat nice constructions or it will see a new barrio here and another barrio there with no concern of the beauty of the road, essentially making the road quite ugly and hazardly to look at.

When Balaguer made new roads or improved an old one, many times they were lined with new multifamiliares on both sides. With some changes on the somewhat bland facades of these buildings (perhaps follow a more Meditteranean approach) and dedicating the first floor to businesses/doctor offices/etc; this and other roads could greatly improve in the looks department.

There are some roads that Balaguer did that weren't lined with multifamiliares and turned out somewhat alright, like ave Churchill in SD. That is mostly due to having mostly middle class and up neighborhoods develop on both sides. Others, like ave Reyes Católicos didn't have the same luck.

Ernesto Beras Goico, one of the sons of Freddy Beras Goico and Luchy Vicioso in A Sigún with Carlos Sánchez. This was published a few days ago.
