Forget the indoor antenna, its useless. See this one, comes with 5 meter cable that you can connect to the alfa 100mw unit. Point the antenna outside from balcony and connect the other end of the cable onto alfa unit. You are all set for action.

I would use it outdoors when I am on the move...maybe your 16 dBi can't be taken on the airplane because it could be rated as a weapon ?
