There is a way to "Update" on ANDROID, in the store.

i convinced a fellow dr1ers to download line yesterday: LINE : Free Calls & Messages
within minutes we were talking, totally free and great quality. much better than intrusive bore of whatsapp.

the free sever is down for a week or a little more. the newest version is 2.12.16, but since it's down that means they

i forgot to say that LINE only does free calls (including video calls) from LINE to LINE. works on a tablet, PC, phone. needs internet/wifi. i used it when i was on holiday in poland. LINE is a japanese company and the app is available in several languages.

You don't need to download any security-rick prone apk from third party site. Just let Play Store do its job. My sister called me via Whatsapp yesterday (surprise) and my calls got enabled. Just check your update is 2.12.5

i may be in minority of people who do not appreciate phones in general. i don't pick up calls from unknown numbers, i delete my VM without listening, i don't call back. i much prefer chatting and/or emails but mostly i feel the phones should be used for emergencies and not for useless chattering.

Based on who owns Whatsapp I wouldn't come within 1,000 miles of it...nor would I knowingly accept a call from anyone using it.
Too risky.
