No there is none. He obviously do not live here. There are small buses though. Your friend should just ask the expats in LT, I am sure they know when and where.
Caribe Tours only goes as far west as Rio San Juan..... from Nagua

Caribe Tours tried to make stops in Cabarete. The Taxi Mafia threatened to burn the buses. So, there is no stop in Cabarete.
True story. I remember this gringo, about ten years ago, that came up with this "great" business idea, I warned him, to buy a huge van, that could pick up 10 people with luggage from the airport, driving them to Cabarete. It ended up with his van getting destroyed by golf clubs. And yes, with passengers in it. No, he is no longer here. You need to have some common sense to live here,
I'd be willing to bet there are public taxis and guaguas from Nagua to Rio San Juan. From Rio San Juan, there are definitely public taxis and guaguas that go all the way to Sosua.

Ask your friend if he really thinks it is a good idea in these times of Covid to be squeezed like sardines into a tiny bus that hurtles along at breakneck speed on these, the most dangerous roads in the world, with every single passenger on a different phone call. Surely a taxi is the best option here?
I took one of the smaller guaguas from Las Galeras to Cabarete, but it was a few years ago and pre-Covid. It was not packed, had A/C and was very clean. Definitely no chickens, as there were on local buses around Las Galeras.

Depends what you’re up for. And while I’m not game for the chicken buses with holes in the floor, 4 people to a seat, that stop to pack the aisles every 500 feet, the smaller air conditioned guaguas are pretty comfortable and not crammed full. Some have on board Wifi. I like adventure but not as much as I did 10 years ago. Those guaguas are a happy medium in my opinion.

I completely agree. Like you, I'm not near as adventurous as I was 10 or 20 years ago. But I never bypass the guaguas when I need transportation. You save a ton of $ if you use them a lot.
Some people just prefer to be a bit more secure. I'm just not one of them.
He is the type who travels everywhere. Normally I wouldn’t recommend it. I don’t know about Covid.
The only time I haven’t felt safe on a guagua is getting off on Duarte to catch a taxi.
But on the actual guaguas themselves, I’ve never felt unsafe. Unless there are holes in the floor and I’ve only been on them a handful of times.
I also got of many years ago on Duarte and didn’t like it. Also don’t like the station the Las Terrenas bus uses in SD behind Plaza Lama and don't think I will go again. Rather Caribe Tours although then have to go to or from Sanchez.
