Whatever the authorities say, I would be very skeptical.

IF, a body is recovered, then an autopsy should be made by a medical examiner in the US.

I think most forum members might agree that the local and federal government will do just about anything to protect the tourist industry.

If she did drown, why no body?

Haven't checked the latest since early this morning, but ABC said she had drown, but then CNN said they were interrogating a guy she was seen swimming with earlier.

Wondering if any of the employees of the resort or the "watcheys" in the complex had a hand in this.

The Dominican absolutely does not want another Natalee Holloway scenario. Even on Fox they mention how it hurt tourism in Aruba due to significant boycotting efforts. She did not drown, but, tbh, if that's what they want it to be, my experience is that's the narrative that will be pushed.

I did in fact disclaim that it was interesting to see the AI take. I'm certain there are folks here that would feel better if they could blame a young intoxicated girl getting swept away by strong currents, but I seriously doubt it was the case. I guess we'll see as the investigation continues
When my good friend drown back in 2021, my first thought was foul play because he was a gym rat and really in shape however after video from a restautrant security camera (the same restaurant he'd eatin at with mutual friends a week prior) was produced, we had to accept how he passed.

Not saying foul play can't be involved however drownings happen in this country more othen than I think most folks realize.

TMZ says she drowned

A popular beach destination with millions of visitors and growing, stuff will happen to a select few. From alcohol poisoning for drinking too much to drowning, accidents, etc; a few will experience that.

They say "reportedly" and "apparantly"...nothing new and nothing definitive in that article
They have to say that to avoid being sued if it turns out a confirmation of something happens to not be true.

Even when they know something was due to foul play and who did it. Until the court doesn’t make the decision for jail time or worse, it’s a “reportedly” and “apparently,” let’s also not forget the “allegedly.”

If no foul play was involved, this kid better hope the body is found soon because he will most likely be held in preventative custody for a long time. At a bare minimum, he won't be leaving the DR anytime soon.
