Many articles from yesterday say he is going home. Not one today confirms this. I would think if he was in Iowa it would be big news...............

I've been googling his name all day. I just did again. There are hundreds of articles, couldn't read all of them, but I didn't see any that definitively said he left PR and was in Iowa(?). He's probably back but it just seems surprising that after an unusual overnight detention in SJU, there wasn't more news about him finally departing there. Can you post a link?

Maybe his parents are having him keep a low profile, in other words maybe he went somewhere else other than "home". If he is trying to avoid the press, then home would be the last place to go. Also, from PR I do not think he could get a direct flight to Iowa so he may have had to make another connection so it would be easy for him to get "lost in the crowd". I am just taking a guess though.
Logically the Search is on LAND at this Point . Anything in the Ocean would be beyond decomposition, with zero chance of anything definitive .
My guess is the Family is FUNDING a Land Search at this point ..however futile that may be

There is no way they just gave up and just took his word for it . Not from a man who just walked away , and did not care about reporting any of it .
Also I believe he was interrogated again in Puerto Rico and since we have heard nothing since then . perhaps he is still there .
And NOT reporting a Drowning is not a crime in itself , but there are exceptions and one can be charged if there is a "special relationship , or one has a DUTY of Care" like a self proclaimed Life Guard perhaps? ( look it up if you dont believe me) They could have charged him with that already. its not a Felony, but enough to keep him in custody perhaps.
So , Land search, and not reporting a "drowning" charges .. covering Both sides ..
And another reason why the family asked for the Death Declaration.
But some of you seem to think he is safely snuggled in back home in IOWA and just keeping a Low Profile ..
I highly doubt that .
We should know something within a Day or 2 at most .
On Google, several media outlets said he HAS returned home. Past tense. That leads me to believe he is home, and probably on the advice of his lawyer, is keeping a low profile. He’s probably spending his time cutting deals for media interviews. Wait for it. Everything will come out eventually. The problem will be sorting through information and misinformation. As always.

Theories and opinions are fine...just make it clear you are stating your opinion or proposing a theory. If stating something like it is a fact, do not be surprised or offended if someone asks you to back it up. And yes, some posters are more guilty of this than others. As far as the media (in the US at least) having no legal obligation to tell the truth...Fox News and NewsMax are two outlets that have had to pay some mighty big dollars for knowingly failing to do so.
In this case, as predicted by many, the media has lost all interest in this case in a matter of days. Punta Cana was not affected at all and Riu Republica is packed with spring breakers drinking til they drop and puking their guts out. Back to normal already.

Regardless of CAPITALIZATION and colorful type, if your personal opinion has not been or cannot be supported by fact and generally a link to a reliable, more or less neutral, factual site then it's no better than public masturbation. At least that's how it is in my circles and generally in polite society. The same goes for all the insults. I was lead to believe that this was verboten on DR1. I can only wish it was true and that things will get cleaned up and those who keep perpetuating these bits of poor behavior will be suitability dealt with and not merely chastised. I will of course leave that to the moderators, as we all should.
