Going to DR for my first time. I'll be alone. What are some fun things to do and where? Thanks!

Ok Rubio,
I'm 27, male, 6'1, African-American, love dancing, adventure, food and merengue. I also LOVE the beach. Point me out to a nice beach. Any sight seeing, adventurous (within limits) info will help. I plan to take a backpack and a small suitcase. How easy will traveling be from city to city. I want to head east and possibly north. How long will it take to get to Peurto Plata from SD. What is the best/cheapest mode of transpo and hotel info too!

Take the Metro bus (A/C) to Puerto Plata. It's about $RD100.00 for a 3+ hour trip. There is a short stop in Santiago.
If you get a cab from Puerto Plata to Sosua (great beach) that will cost about $RD300 pesos for about a 20 - 30 min ride. He should take you down to the parking lot.
There are plenty of places to stay, expensive and cheap. A/C and not.
We stayed at Sofy's B&B. If she's full, she'll point you in another direction.
Hopefully somebody else can help with the other questions.
