Rooms at the Golden Beach

I am looking to book this hotel. My concern is the sleeping arrangements for my children. I have an 11 year old boy and my daughter is 13. Can anyone tell me what the arrangements are in a standard double room. I am looking to book with First Choice. I have read through the other thread but as that is now closed, thought I would post my question on this one.

Recently returned from the holiday village

I returned from the holiday village on the 29th April 2007. The resort overall is really great but I have since made a written complaint to First Choice.

We booked a family room, if you are thinking of doing this please don't bother wasting your money. We were charged a ?400 supplement for the family room that was half the size of a standard room, to get to the bathroom you have to go through the kids area. The playstation is subject to a deposit from the reception but the games are extra at $6 per game most of which are totally unsuitable for children with a 18 rating, you can also hire DVDs from the same place but as they are all really bad copies none of them work on the playstation either. As it rained for a week while we were there we could have done with this to occupy the kids. Our room also flooded on a particularly rainy night, the water came in the patio doors and ended up flooding completely under the king size bed and out the other side. These rooms are also nearest to the entertainment which is terrible and so loud that one night all the children were walking around with their fingers in their ears while all the adults moved as far away as possible leaving only 7 people watching the entertainment. If you have really young children then it will be really difficult to get them to sleep in a family room.

The one good thing is the in2action team they are fantastic my daughter cried when we got home because she would not be seeing them again. The high ropes courses are great.

The food is alright but repeated quite regularly all the al a carte resaurants are fantastic though. In the main buffet restaurant there are birds freely flying around we even saw them in the trays of food. The waiting staff did nothing to scare them off, maybe this is why so many people have previously complained of stomach bugs. Mosquitoes are everywhere and still bite you even though you are wearing repelent we did begin to wonder if we were getting bitten by bed bugs as well as we had our mattress changed and no longer got bitten in our room. Take plenty of anti-histamine tablets and creams as these are the only things that relieved the itching.

We had a good holiday but felt that First Choice have not resolved many of the issues that people have complained about previously. We also went on the outback safari which is fantastic you can take school supplies to the children in the local school they are very grateful.

IF you want access to the adult only area and pool, first rights to a la carte restaurant reservations then the upgrade is worth it!

Upgrade

HI Danielle, im also there in september for 3 weeks. we are in the royal suites as im getting married there. after reading all the forums to do with this site id say its deffinatley worth upgrading even more so with being a couple. they have said that all the pools are really busy and noisy but the pool in the royal area is really quiet and has the only swim up bar.

I paid my balance last night I asked what the latest reports were coming out they said one of their shop staff was there at present and the e mail I saw back from them said that all the glitches had now been ironed out and it was operating as it should.Hope this sets some more minds at rest.

New user look in the weather section under FAQ's. As about your pool towels I haven't got a clue as never stopped in an AI.

yes you get towels. As for the weather, who knows. We had it red hot at 8am, rain at 3pm then hot again by 4. Not 1 day was the same. if you have a pram, pack the rain cover. i did, well worth taking.
