I will be in DR in two week and would like to play golf. I have tried to contact the Cayacoa CC with little luck. Can anyone tell me if the golf courses rent clubs or do you have to drag your own. I am a little concerned about them making it.

Cayacoa is now known as Las Lagunas Country Club. This golf course that is located on the outskirts of Santo Domingo can be reached by calling Tel. (809) 561-7084 and (809) 561-7288. Their fax is (809) 561-7694

Their club rental fee is US$10 for 18 holes.

There are a lot of good courses on the South of the island. Why not bring your clubs. The airlines are pretty good about them and every flight seems to have a lot of them on board.
I would not recommend that you bring your long putter, but other than that there should be no problem.

P.S. Try and play Metro to the east of the city and Jarabacoa just about 1:20 to the north....And of course, Playa Grande on the North Coast is the greatest of all and one of perhaps the top three or four in the world. Do it now before everyone else finds out and you can't get on....

Top three or four in the world? I don't think so. It isn't even in the top 100. Casa de Campo's Teeth of the Dog is the only golf course in the Dominican Republic that makes the top 100 in the world list (see http://www.golfonline.com/travel/1999top100/worldlist.html).
