President Luis Abinader said that estimates are that the government will need RD$8 billion to respond to damages caused by the Saturday, 18 November 2023 intense rains in the Dominican Republic.

He said he is waiting for the report prepared by the Ministry of Public Works that will quantify the public infrastructure damages. He said the Ministry of Public Works has asked for time until Wednesday to turn in their estimate of damages, including works that while not collapsed were left in a vulnerable condition.

The remark was made during the weekly Monday press conference on 27 November 2023.
