It's not a rumour, it's true. I've been getting emails for the past 4 months from an American job placement company that I deal with. The location hasn't been disclosed, but I'm guessing it will be inside Playa Dorada. There is a rumor of a Hard Rock Café opening soon in Puerto Plata.
If anyone know where exactly this will be, when will they open, etc... spill the beans!
I took my Haitian kid twice. He got a kick out of all the memorabila. His favorite quote to this day is "take the money and run." He was 18 I think at the time. However, at this point they have priced themselves out of my range, at about $450/night.That's another place I really don't get(?). It's like a museum that serves food and drinks with memorabilia for old fart boomers.
By the time they add in the 18% ITBIS and 10% tip that you have to tip more anyway their prices are nowhere near what they offer....................Much better places on the North Coast...........I took my Haitian kid twice. It would be a Cafe............So is it a Hard Rock Cafe, or a Hard Rock Hotel?
I don't know how these places still find customers. Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock, weren't there others? Back in the day they had good business in the south with the rednecks. I guess Dominicans think they're more "New York" if they go to one of these gimmick joints. As a New Yorker I view the demographic the same as the Times Square and double decker red bus folks. Also the same who go to the observation deck in the Empire State BuildingThere was a Hard Rock Cafe in STQ Colonial zone a few years ago. It was always busy but typical bad management killed it.
It's a dying brand at the moment. The one in Bávaro seems to have found success with golf, casinos and concerts.
Hope they can find thier way. It's a great golf course. The casino is Vegas quality
The same ones that like VIP seating, gold chains, flashing red and blue emergency lights on the front for their black SUVs, flashing bulbs in their brake lights, multiple gold chains, a bottle of Hennessey on the table, accompanied by girls with fake asses, fake breasts, false eyelashes, acrylic polish on fake nails, lip fillers and 24" hair extensions. Are there really many Dominicans that give an RA about Hard Rock Cafe? How many have that in their bucket list?
Dying brand indeed. There is probably no brand which is more yesterday. There was a Hard Rock Cafe in STQ Colonial zone a few years ago. It was always busy but typical bad management killed it.

Cruise ship clientele are not going to blow a wad of money to eat at a Hard Rock Cafe. The‘re fed feed five times a day on the ships. Puerto Plata residents have increased living costs and, less money to spend on cache cafes. If it is Hard Rock Cafe and not a hotel then it would make more sense to have it close to the center and Taino Bay cruise terminal.
So true. I still remember taking my oldest to Disney World in 2002. At first I was agast at the prices. After a while, I just said eff it and gave them my credit card and didn't worry about it. Had a great time and paid everything off in a month or 2.Cruise ship clientele are not going to blow a wad of money to eat at a Hard Rock Cafe. The‘re fed feed five times a day on the ships. The owner will be looking to fill the tables with AI clientele from the proposed Disney Resort, and other Playa Dorada resorts, condo and apartment renters, and the thousands of other tourists stuffed into the Playa Dorada and Playa Bergantin area. People on a one week or two week vacation willing to pay the high prices.
Decades ago I went to a Hard Rock Cafe in Mykonos once. Haven’t darkened the door of any since then and I’ve walked by many in different countries.

Yep! The Disney political correctness pendulum has swung far to the Left. A long way from its infancy and the days it produced cartoons with blatant racial bias. Euro Disney lost money big time when it was built on the outskirts of Paris . It took years for the Europeans to accept it and make it viable.Disney has a new attraction now: "It's A Woke World".
