HI! I'm going to the Hotal Occidental Flamenco Bavaro on the 20th of November and wanted to know if anyone has stayed there or even heard of it. It's new, just opened in October. I can't find it on the net, but it looked awesome in the brochure. I have also heard that the other Hotel Occidental chains were nice. Has anyone ever stayed in any of the chains? Were they nice? Anyone know what the weather has been in Punta Cana lately? Thanks for any info! Natasha

Natasha search the site as I have been reading about it and last week someone was leaving Sunday and they have to stay at Bavaro Beach because it was not ready yet. Give your review when you get back

It's ture that the Flamenco did not open on time as planed. They did thier "Soft Opening" Nov 1st, however by the time you get there on 11/20 the hotel should be 100%. I was there for the "Soft Opening" on 11/1 and they were almost ready then they just needed to do some work on the grand staircase that leads to the upstairs restaurants and those same restrurants that are on the second floor of the lobby. I have also been to the Flamenco in Puerto Plata and it was great, the one in Punta Cana is a copy of that one, so you should have no problems. What company did you book this through???

Have fun.

I just returned from Punta Cana and it was as described. The weather was a little rainy. It did rain almost everyday, BUT only a shower or two nothing to stop you. It did rain alittle harder sometimes but usually early morning or evening which was great. Since it is rather warm, about 85F everyday you really don't mind a little rain. I hope you have as much fun as we did!

Could you give more details (food, beach, staff, rooms, grounds, activities...), your comments? All would be appreciated.

Re: Occidental Flamenco Bavaro

Sure. The rooms are nice, done in classic Spanish style, with either two twins or one king size bed with a mini bar that's included. The beach is great (as every hotel in Punta Cana is), there's a good chance that the grounds are still brown due to the fact that they planted the gardens a little late. They have 3 pools one with a swim up bar, the one by the lobby is huge, I've seen almost every hotel in Punta Cana and this is the largest pool there is. I really didn't get a chance to sample to much of the food because I was only there for two nights and I didn't even eat there the second night but what I had was really good, they are going to have a total of 10 restaurants with 3 of them a la carte and 1 gourmet restaurant that is not included in the all inclusive (unless your staying in a club room) and 10 bars. The staff is good but they don't speak alot of english. I was there on buiness so I don't know what any of the activities are but I know they includ non motorized water sports and such. I hope this helps.
