Dolores, since you asked...I tend to avoid the news side of DR1 based on the fact that the layout just isn't up to date. Has a 1990's look about it and it doesn't draw you in visually. imho.

I read it daily. My Spanish is not good enough to read the local papers. I am interested in the East and Seast, SCentral and Swest. Thanks Dolores and DR1.

I read the news on occasion, but it does need some updating as mentioned. Also, what would be really cool is if we could comment directly on the news stories like you can on CNN.com with Disquis.

Or, a link to quickly start a thread from that story

Read? How many actually READ anymore?

Pics, videos & cutesy memes are how people get "news" in 2014...

+1 for me. I am not a frequent poster, but I read the news portion regularly. Still have some trouble with spanish, so it's a huge boon for me.

I started by reading the daily news to gain some understanding and knowledge of the DR and found it very useful. I then took the next step and joined the forums. I still read them both and will continue to do so.

DR1 used to have an RSS feed that I could use from my Safari browser. I really liked it as I could see the headlines then click on an article that interested me.

DR1 no longer seems to have an RSS feed.
Safari no longer supports RSS feeds.

Ahhhh.....progress!

I read the headlines to see if I need to look further. I appreciate the English language news items. However, news doesn't take holidays or breaks. I realize DR1 is not a "news agency" and accept what is offered for what it is.
