In case you haven't noticed, it's only a select few of self appointed experts on the D.R. that seem to want to dictate to everyone else what they may think and or have the cojones to say. It's a great vehicle for those individuals that seem to have this need to boast of their educational background??
and their so called expertise of every subject that may appear on this board.
I do find it rather amusing though that these are also the same people that continuously try to portray themselves to be these wonderful loving do gooders that are out to save the world,thats of course as long as you agree with them. God forbid should you have an opposing view,as you have seen they are very quick to brand you a bigot,racist,ignorant etc.
Oh!! what it must feel like to live in such a blissful world as they.
As far as DR1 is concerned,they let these select few dictate to them what should be posted or not posted. I guess to much of the good'ol Brugal and Barcelo has stewed their brains and shriveled their cojones.
As for those that are genuine and sincere in their advice I applaud you 100% percent,keep up the good work.

Why don't you stop the complaining and name calling and try contributing something more substantial than insults or such useful comments like "I agree" or "That's right." Speaking of cojones, when are you going to grow a pair? You don't have the guts or decency to admit that what you wrote about Chinese in the DR was an ethnic slur. It was offensive to many fine Dominicans of Chinese background and to any readers who have a bit of a social sensitivity. Something you don't seem to have or worry about. That was the only time you were "attacked." Tony Pagella you really are sad. The educational background of a poster has nothing to do with this board - all reasonable posts seem to be treated honestly and, in most cases, with courtesy. Try not being such a jerk and people might take you seriously.

You just conveniently forgot that. And, yes, I noticed the use of the word friend??, I just wanted to make it clear that you and I are nothing of the sort. Show me the post where I used the term "gringo." I bet you can't. The one thing that sets me off is bigots, racists, and fools who con themselves into believing they aren't bigots or racists but then go about using such terms when referring to people different than themselves.
If you choose to post things on this board that don't just insult other posters or the board management, you won't find me responding in a negative manner. If you choose to continue with posts about "board police" or board managers suffering from too much ron brugal then I will continue being on your case. Try to use that grey matter on top of your shoulders for a good cause, inform people about your knowledge on the DR instead of putting others posters down. I know you can do it. I have read some of your posts and they were informative (see I am capable of kind words - believe me, Tony, I much prefer the high road). But, if you insist on following the path of being insulting - I'll fight fire with fire.
P.S. Tony, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I worked my way through school. Never took out a single school loan. I know what blue collar work is - I worked in factories, drove trucks, and worked fishing. I can curse like the best of them. Anything you say won't faze me. And, yes, I am good with the put down. I am also not so unreasonable as to offer an olive branch. If you did apologize for that remark, good, it needed an apology, that is what being a man is all about. Now how about cooling off and leave the raging about other posters alone. I am all for "free speech" but that means you have to be able to take the heat from others as well.

suzanne, i truly understand and appreciate your opinions, and i would be pleased to apologize for any petty insults i have made here. perhaps i am so blinded by my frustration with him that i do not recognize them as being nasty.
this individual made a malicious, derogatory and spiteful comment which deeply offended me. he has,in the past, denied saying it, refused to apologize for it and now a month and a half later out of the blue he claims he is the victim of persecution. nobody here has done any such thing to him. he is now saying that he has apologized. all i ask is to see that apology and i will accept it graciously.

I apologize to all other readers for my negative comments about this particular poster on this thread. I stated earlier that if he chooses to participate on this board in a positive manner - great, that's his right. If he chooses to continue his allegations of persecution and insulting other posters - well, then I can't promise that I won't respond. Sometimes the principle is important and on this issue I believe it is.

answer, the sorry I apologize line shows that the author knew something wasn't right
to begin with.

I will try to answer your question honestly. There will always be those posters who plant a message to incite a riot. This "Joe" only posts when his Mommy is out of the room and his diaper is full. I was hoping that some other poster, such as yourself, would put him in his place. You did it nicely. Unlike what was said by another insensitive idiot about me, I have neither the time nor inclination to be a member of the board police. I have to pick my fights and this being an open board there are too many opportunities to comment on all of them. There are many concerned and intelligent contributors to this board from all parts of the globe, don't let the few cretins ruin what is a very good information service.

however, when DR1 deletes messages it deems inappropriate, then that allows the perpetraitor (yes, a deliberate mis-spelling) to distort the truth after the fact, and that i will not allow to happen. although i may be offended by their content, i prefer that messages like joe's above remain on the board as a testament to the writer's insensitivity, intolerance and lack of understanding of other cultures.
as for educated dominicans, i had no difficulty understanding the bitter sarcasm in angela's response. nothing further was needed to be said. then again, i was also able to understand and appreciate many of the scathing retorts that j.c. posted here. the one about a source of good bread in the D.R. comes to mind right now.
