Hello, How would the C in Echavarria sound would it not be a hard Ch?

I know that the g in guyacannes is said similar to yuyacannes.

I am leaning the language very slowly and find some times I can look at an assosiates name and pronounce it dead on and then again sometimes I mess up. I guess I do not know all the rules yet. Thanks for your help.

The 'Ch' sounds more or less like it would in English.

'Guay' sounds more like 'Why'.

And that G is a hard g, not soft. Sort of like Guatemala...get it?

Okay both quote's from above. G must have different rules in different places?? Thanks for the help. :cheeky:

Yes, in the example it would rhyme with Why.
Before A or O it is a hard G
Before E, it is aspirated an H, as is GESTO (hes to)
Before consonants it is hard. GRATO, GRITO

Before dipthongs, like UA or UE, it can be a little guttural, like the G in Guatemala or guagua.

this makes no claim of being perfect.

Remember there are only five vowel sounds in Spanish: AH, EH, EE (like EEK!!), OH and
OO ( as in OOh la-la!)

In this case you can use the exact same pronunciation of CH as in Chance in English to say Echavarria in Spanish.

As for Guay in would be more like "Goo i" phonetically speaking... (Just say it like one word instead of the gap in between and emphasis on the start of i).

Guayacanes is not like Yuyacannes... "Y" is pronounced as LL (Spanish) in this case at the off set in yuyacannes...
