Authorities in Sosúa, Puerto Plata are actively searching for three individuals who allegedly robbed the Vimenca and Western Union branch on Saturday, 10 August 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that the armed suspects entered the Ceducomp electronics store, located within Plaza Internacional, where the Vimenca/Western Union shop is located. Then the assailants held employees at gunpoint and made off with approximately RD$1.5 million and US$30,577. The trio then fled the scene on a black CG motorcycle.
The report in Listin Diario by Puerto Plata correspondent Edgar Lantigua indicates that the incident has shocked residents of Sosúa, a town known for its relatively peaceful atmosphere. The robbery took place in an area of the plaza that was not equipped with private security, according to initial investigations.
