Most of the deaths that could have been prevented over Easter Week occurred in traffic accidents.
The efforts of over 45,000 volunteers to reduce accidents and fatalities on the nation’s highways, rivers, and beaches appeared to be working at the start of Easter Week as the major trauma hospitals are reported less-than-usual flow of patients. By Sunday, 31 March 2024, 20 fatalities had been reported from Friday to Sunday for the Easter Week holiday. On Monday, 1 April, the COE will issue the final report for the 2024 Easter Week operation.
The Center for Emergency Operations reported eight deaths on Sunday, nine on Saturday and three on Sunday, for the death toll of 20. All the deceased on Sunday were caused by traffic accidents.
