If You Are Getting Married Cancel Cancel Cancel Unless You Want A Ribbon And Silly String Decoration And Get Carted Of On A Golf Caddy It Was Hillarious I Have Hundreads Of Photos But Will Not Be Posting Until My Claims Have Gone Through With First Choice. From Food Poisioning To Flooding To Open Electricity To Rude Staff You Name It This Place Has Got It If Anyone Wants More Info I Will Try To Write Back But I Promise Whithin The Next Few Weeks There Will Be Photos And You Will Be Queing Up To Cancel I Promise.

at HV now
Hi all,
I am at the HV right now. Weather has been quite raining, but we are hoping for more sun.
Just have a few minutes. Overall, the wavepool and slides are awesome. My six year old and one year old love it and the kidsclub is great. Food has been average, no flies or anything like that. Staff is great, very firendly. The rooms are two star at best...and we did have a sewage problem. However, to their credit they moved us to a new room asap so cant complain about that. (We are in a family room, which we find very small, for the people who may be bringing more than two kids, keep that in mind five people in the room we have would be a challenge. The furniture is so big, there is just no walking space or room for luggage etc) We dont spent much time in the room, so that is not a big deal. Would I come here again? Prob not...it is not four star, but my kids are LOVING it and when they are happy so are we! We have found food at all hours of the day, so the no food between 3 and 6 is no longer true.
Hope this info is helpful. We are not picky travellers at all. Overall we just feel it is def not a four star and should not be advertised as such. Nor should we be paying for a four star quality. We are having great family time though and plan to enjoy every minute! Now that we have wrapped our minds around the lower star accomodation, we expect less and are just going to be happy!

I, i like everyone else, am concerned with the situation with the holiday village. Me and Jenny are going to the HV for our honeymoon in July and Cant wait, but at the same time we are very worried about things.
I feel that the bad reviews will fade over time as i can imagine all new hotels have problems when they first open.
Anyway. I hope what i found today on the FirstChoice web site will make people feel a bit better about going.

There is no specific video on the First Choice web site for this holiday village.The video is for one of the other established holiday villages such as the one in Lanzarote.
We still think we have made the right decision in cancelling our holiday to the HVGB.

May is a long way away! things are getting better every single day. Don't worry!!!
Just retuned yesterday from HVGB and sorry ,but as a couple on our own we hated it.On the bright side though if you are a family with young kids my guess is you will enjoy this.The wave pool area is great place for them and they will love it .Our problem was with the adult only part of the holiday. The adult only restaurant on the beach was still not opened when we left,and as much as we love kids(we have two teenagers of our own) we chose to have a quiet holiday this year.In every other restaurant kids were in abundance, no problem,but if you want to have a quiet romantic dinner,forget it . If you are in the Royal Suites they will serve you a continental breakfast ,but anything more substantial then you would have to go to the main restaurant.For us the royal suites were hugely disapointing? Rooms were dull and boring ,and the hammock on the balcony nearly had my wife in hospital on the first day.She weighs around 9 stone(126pounds) and the thing broke leaving her with a sore back for a week .We reported it but still no one came to fix it ,not that we would have went back on it anway.So beware this also happened to other people at the hotel .The adult ony pool was nicely laid out ,we seen people being asked to leave as they did not have the right coloured band , but beleive me they did not miss much as nothing much happens there anyway.Entertainment , again if you are a family you will probably enjoy this,kids disco then bingo then a "show" every night.I could go on and on. Hope this is not to negative but for us it was not what we had hoped for

i seen the video and it looks good, but from the reviews of people coming back, it is a little scary, i really hope it is better than what some people are saying we are booked into the Royal Master Jacuzzi Suites for Feb 28th, really hope to hear better reviews.

On the First Choice page I went to from your link it took me to a booking page.There are videos of the First Choice holiday Villages on their web site but only for Viva, Sun Tropical ,Costa Del Sol and Turkey. None for this particular holiday village.We have been to the Sun Tropical HV,so we know what they are like.
The video Star Class Video tour is for the premium seats on the aeroplane.There are only 8 photos of this particular holiday village on the booking page ,but no video !

We had called our travel agent about changing resorts, when there had been only bad reports. There was no charge to change, but we would have had to pay the going rate of whichever resort we chose. When we booked, the HVGB had the best rate going. The going rate of the resorts we were offered to change to ranged from aprox. $240.00 per person to aprox. $900.00 per person, we would have had to pay extra. that would have been for the regular rooms in the offered resorts, we are booked into the Royal Suites at the HVGB. We have decided to stay at the HVGB, and are watching this forum closely. Something I would suggest, is to present your idea of what a 4 star resort is to your travel agent,what you expect your room to look like, things to do etc. Then have that compared to what is offered by the HVGB. I have found any place I have stayed at in the Dominican, the rooms are pretty plain and basic compared to what I have stayed at in Canada. But I find you can't beat the laid back friendly nature of the Dominican. I do understand that there has been some very real problems that have happened, not just a case of misconception. These are not what I am addressing. But if one has certain expectations say for a wedding , ask questions.

I am in the UK so maybe the link isn't working for our freinds over the pond.
