That's good to hear. At least in your winter you actually have a proper one with snow - we just have rain and winds!!! Yes I can't wait for 2 weeks of hot sunshine, with maybe a couple of showers - fingers crossed on on the wedding day though.

I was at Breezes last year and mine worked fine. I am from Canada so no difference in the power to ours,110 but if you are from Britain you will need a converter from 220 to the 110 volts.
Hope this helps!

Hello to anyone at the HVGB.

Things have been a bit quiet on here.
Is it currently open?

Also wondering if the refreshment is continuing and if there is more things for elder teenagers to do.
How tight are HVGB at enforcing Adults only at the Caribbean restaurant and Aquinoux bar. We are a close family and have two mature sixteen year olds in our party who we have paid adult fairs for.
Can they go into these establishments accompanied by an adult?

sun chilled - as far as im aware you need adult wristbands to be able to access the adult facillities. we went last september/october and we were 18 at the time and stayed in the royal suites area and were given adult wristbands & im pretty sure that to be given one you need to be over 18 in any section of the resort you are staying in

Sun chilled - Danielle is right the children are given yellow wrist bands where as adults get green or gold for the royal suites. they wont be allowed in the aquanox bar but you could always ask reference the carribean on an evening as i think its daft if they dont, children are allowed in the carribean during the day as we found that the best place for lunch.

From my experience..the aquanox bar is not a place for 16 yr olds...the last time I was there..it was very wild..and crazy..with lots of drinking..etc..much more wild than any bar I have been in Canada with a drinking age of 19+..

There is not a lot for Teenagers to do this at this resort at night..but really..there is not much for teenagers at any resort..Last year..there was a club house ..for teens..was not there..but it looked nice...pretty much just a place to hang out....

Thanks to every one who has replied.
My family group consists of my daughter (18), my son (16), and my wife & I.
Our party covers 3 generations with my Father & Mother in-law(s) who celebrating there golden wedding this year. My Brother in-law with his, 16 year old daughter. My Brother and father in law(s) will also celebrate there birthdays while at the resort.

We were planning to celebrate the golden wedding when in DR and were hoping to have a nice romantic setting and the Caribbean restaurant sounded ideal with the sun going down (etc). We are now hoping we can still do that as we are a very close family. Fingers crossed.

My son and niece who are both over 6ft (honest something to do with our porridge!) and are sensible. We remain hopefully the complex can accommodate our wishes.
This will probably be the Grandparents last big holiday and we want to make it memorable for all the right reasons!

It does seem odd that first choice have left this age group with little to do in the evenings when they are promoting a family holiday, or maybe they think that, all teenagers want to hang about on street corners!

We are surprised to see they will be classed as children when in effect first choice class them as adults for the fair but give them privileges of children.
You would think in a family complex that 16 & 17 year olds would be considered mature enough to go for a meal in any of the restaurants.

A different coloured band would be the answer to identify Adult paying 16 & 17 year olds.

Pity help any teenagers in this bracket on there honeymoon:cheeky:

I can understand keeping them away from the Casino and disco.
You would think there would be some allowance for them as long as they are accompanied by there parents / adults in the Caribbean restaurant.
After ScotianOne pointing out the adult bar gets wild I would certainly not be interested in taking them there.

Be interesting to hear of any changes to HVGB entertainment program.

So please keep any updates coming.:)

Will be honest and say when we were there i certainly wouldnt of said the aquanox was wild, and im not one for wild places anyway (god i sound old, im only 31 honest, he he) it will boil down to whos there at the time as to whether it gets rowdy, i would speak to the first choice reps when u get there and explain the situation as you will have to find out when they could fit u all in the restaurant anyway as there isnt loads of tables, i think once u av explained they wouldnt turn u away. as far as the aquanox goes i think u will have more trouble getting them in, not that theres people on the doors or anything, u just walk up the stairs but they could ask u to leave once they see the yellow wrist bands, when we were there in september there was a new manager who all the staff were complaining about as she was quite strict with things. if i can help u with anything else let me know. Thank you Christine.

We have requested the first floor at our accommodation. It would be great to have some insider knowledge regarding the best area to request on our invoices notes. There are 8 off of us traveling and we will have 4 rooms. Obviously it would be nice to be close by each other. At the moment we have requested a view of a pool (we are early risers). That was prior to my in-laws joining us and they are beach lovers (late risers) so we may change our notes depending on the accommodation types. We will not be staying in the VIP area (unfortunately).

Is it possible to get 4 rooms on a first floor and bearing these points in mind where would you advise requesting?

Also any info you can provide on the booking in process would be greatly appreciated.
:)

Hi sunchilled, regarding rooms that overlook a pool there isnt any really, there are some blocks on ur left when u enter the complex that you could probably see the pool from but not that it would make any difference, there are some bungalow style rooms as soon as you go past the barrier that are next to the wave pool, still cant see anything though but id heard of people complaining who were staying in them as they could hear the fan for the wavepool on all the time. it mite sound a really big complex but trust me where ever your party are based round the complex its only a couple of minutes if that to get round. you could request on arrival for first floor rooms but im not sure u will be able to if they are full. u will see that they are 2 storey buildings with 2 rooms on bottom and 2 on top so u mite be lucky and they could put u all in 1 block but i really wouldnt worry bout it.

For booking in we were taken by golf cart to the royal suites but where the coach drops you off is right at reception and there were 24 of us and they all said booking in didnt take long at all, u will be greeted with some fruit punch (non-alcoholic) very refreshing, even better wi rum in it he he. ive got quite a few photos of the resort if you fancy a look, feel free to email me: cmcguire@heckmondwike-fb.co.uk

Sun chilled - when we went the aquannox bar was only "wild" on one night and that was because of a big party having a few drinks before the next day which was a wedding other than that it was more of a relaxed atmopshere. As Christine mentioned the complex seems big but isnt really that big and most of the rooms are nearby each other so if you dont all get rooms in the same building it shouldnt be a major problem really. I hope you all have a nice holiday :D
& Christine, I still havent got round to emailing you yet lol! I'll be in touch soon!

Hi Christine,
Thanks for the reassurances and also of your kind offer of forwarding photographs. I have been on another web site which rates hotels and AI's, which had lots of photographs. Not quiet as informative as this one though!

We are all looking forward to our holiday and its 16 weeks and counting (down!) Obviously staying at the VIP suites you will not off encountered this but I am still a wee bit curious on the distribution of bands on booking in for the standard accommodation and do they take all the passports on arrival.

It does sound like you enjoyed your stay at the HVGB.
Thanks again for the info.:)

Hi Danielle,
Did you stay in the VIP suites as well or the standard rooms?

Would like to hear more about the managers beach party which happens once a week and some of the entertainment. I have heard of the Wednesday night being particulary good.

After both your commnets and Christines comments I think we will check out the aquannox bar in the early part of the evening and take it from there.
Thankyou for your contribution.:)

Hi sun chilled,

we stayed in the royal suites though we made friends with another couple who were in the standard rooms and we went in there and they looked nice & spacious aswell.

The managers party - we werent invited LOL! the next morning everyone was discussing it round the pool and we were like whaaaat! & our mates were like yeah didnt you get a letter abt it?! but anyway, I heard it was good & lots of free drinks!

& yeah the Aquannox bar is good around 7ish, Steve does some singing in there for around an hour & its quite mellow in there & after that they usually do some sort of quiz.
