Dear Mr. Guzman,

we have built a house with the most important home builder on the north coast of the DR. The house was finished off in January 05. Unfortunately till today we didn’t received the title-deed. Our agent informed us that the land registries work very slow and we should be patient. Do you have any experience in other similar causes? We would be grateful if you could give us an according advice.
Best regards,
Ellen Marianne

Fabio will give you the official reply, but I can tell you from experience and the experience of friends that the issuing of titles is a slow process.

I bought an apartment in december, and am still waiting for the title. I know that the government was moving the office in Puerto Plata a few weeks ago, and that was delaying titles a few weeks. In my case I'm not worried because I bought my apartment from the developer of the complex through Juan Perdomo. I know that Guido Perdomo, the attorney, has been swamped. If your property is in an established development and you bought through a reputable agent, my guess is that you're ok. Who is your attorney? - D

A few weeks. You mean the norm is to wait 7 months for a title? Do you know if title insurance covers you if there are problems?

The developer and your lawyer have the same last name. Are they related? Are you saying that the process has been delayed because your lawyer is swamped? If so, why did you choose him?

It took about 1 month to get the title deed for my North Coast finca and I guess that it is as fast as is possible in this place.

I too wonder who the "MOST IMPORTANT" builder is. I also wonder why you would be getting your title from a builder and why the "Most Important" builder would have a thing to do with Title.

The most important builder is Juan Perdomo and we will get our title from
the attorney Guido Pedomo

yes they are brothers - I think to choose is not so easy because Juan
Perdomo works only with his brother Guido Perdomo as lawyer

Juan Perdomo is NOT a builder. Guido Perdomo is also NOT a builder.
