If you have a Bank Of America account in US, get a debit card, then you can withdraw peso in Scotia Bank in DR free of any fee!
Agree.That's the way to go.

How was that accomplished? Inquiring minds would love to know.....:cheeky:
i do not know. we had accountants both here and stateside. the money was transferred on the dot, arriving on payday. and sorry, now i read my post i see i wrote monthly but of course i mean twice a month.
Obviously I don't know your bank's policies (or your bank), but many banks these days offer internet banking, which itself typically offers some types of money transfers...Of course there are limitations...usually transferring money to another bank's customer is very easy...transferring outside the bank, and outside the country are more challenging.Unfortunately my bank does not allow that whatsoever, I need to physically go into a US branch to initiate a wire transfer.
Accountants, wow!
What a privilege. Are they still around, perhaps you could ask them directly? Thanks
I have exactly the same situation and the Bank of America / Scotiabank connection works for me. I can take out 20,000 pesos per day in 2 batches of 10,000. No additional cost. Bank of America recommend me a cash advance by the visa debit card but that's just as costly as a wire transfer.I make money in USD and it gets sent to my US bank account, until now I have been withdrawing money from ATMs in 10k RD batches but after doing the math it costs me almost 10$ each time I withdraw 10k pesos.. Is there any way for me to get my money here without having to physically be in the US? I know I would need to go to a branch in the US to initiate a wire transfer to a Dominican bank, please help me guys.

That costs $45 or more usually.

That's still a lot more than the Xoom route costs at $3.95.

Really? My e-transfers from my Canadian bank to my BHD account cost me $13:50 each time.
and I can give a two hour notice and cash my personal U.S. check for... $20,000. U.S. for D.R. pesos. That's the most the we have requested at one time. NO PROBLEM with the cash waiting for us. You guys got it yet?
