Exactly. And they DO go after the guarantor. It happened to Mr AE’s brother, he signed for someone.

And this is NOT new. My BIL got into that mess about 25-30 years ago. Santo Domingo.

It Seems You Cant Rent Anything Without This

Well, the Guarantor have to be avaible for pay for outstanding rents in case the renter falls. For me the best guarantor is a family member of the renter,most the father or mother who runs a buisness, sometimes it's a friend. as today (15 years in this buisness) never have to used a guarantor for not fullfilled payments.
Over the years you will learn to choose your tenants, at the beginning we had some trouble but this is long ago.
