Since DavidZ opened the door, maybe they're saying-sa'bana(bed sheet), sabana(savannah)...close enough to samana'.:cheeky:

I think that what I hear most often is Seh MAN ah...closer to week than the town...
and pescado con coco is to die for....hummmm

I am going to Santo Domingo next week and will seek out some place to eat!!

Haven't had pescado-con-coco in years. It's time to bring Mom's up for the weekend and make some. Gotta go and do some surf fishing pronto!

Yes I meant to tell you...tried the pizza...they now will prepare the majority of my meals! pizza, sushi, burgers....what's next? hmmm.... chocolate Ya! or...wait for it... pescado con coco Ya!

Ive heard it most often (incorrectly) as sa MAH nah...sounding very much like semana (the spanish word for week).

I definitely said it this way the first time I wanted to visit, my poor husband was so confused when I kept saying I want to go to the 'week'. lol

When I finally showed him the word in a book, he laughed and said it
sa-ma-NA. BIG difference!
