The rains recorded in the last few weeks have not contributed to less heat in the Dominican Republic. On the contrary, Noticias SIN makes the point the intense humidity in the atmosphere has generated even more heat.

Despite summer not yet officially starting, in most of the Dominican Republic the high temperatures are here to stay. A four-year record temperature of 36.6C was reported in northwestern Villa Vasquez, Montecristi.

The National Weather Office (Onamet) warns of extreme hot temperatures coming up in July, August and September.

Onamet explains that the intense heat sensation will last until the end of September and October.

Onamet recommends that people avoid going out into the sun without due protection from 11 am to four in the afternoon, especially young and elderly children who are more susceptible to high temperatures. People should continuously hydrate...
